Apex Legends‘ newest season gets underway in a couple of weeks and Respawn Entertainment and EA are getting players ready for a change of scenery. Season 15: Eclipse kicks off on November 1 and to give players a taste of what’s to come, a new launch trailer has just dropped that showcases what’s coming up.
Eclipse will see players transported to a new location for the Apex Games. Earlier this week players were introduced to the shooter’s newest Legend, the defensive terraformer and conjurer named Catalyst. The character packs some impressive-looking skills into her arsenal, which are showcased a bit more in the new trailer. Catalyst, whose real name is Tressa Smith, will be the game’s first transgender character and looks set to control the battlefield around her with her unique ability to manipulate the inky-looking substance described as ferrofluid to slow down and defeat her opponents.
You can check out the cinematic launch trailer for Apex Legends: Eclipse right here to get a look at Catalyst in action and get a feel for the lunar-based environment that’s going to be playable in the new season.
The new home of the Apex Games will be on Cleo, which is the moon of the planet Boreas and is also home to Catalyst and her friends. Having defended and fought for her home location since being a youngster, Tressa is no stranger to combat encounters and certainly looks like an agile contender in the new footage. While further details about the character’s particular skillset have yet to be released, it’s now clear that the “stellar new map” teased earlier in the week will in fact be set on Cleo, rather than Boreas.
As detailed at the end of the launch trailer, players can expect to see some further reveals of season 15 content next week. A special gameplay reveal for Eclipse will take place on Monday, October 24, although no specific details have been shared as to what time this reveal will take place yet. We’ll just have to watch this space. Presumably, we’ll get to see a bit more of the newest Legend in action, as well as see some of the new map’s points of interest and overall environmental styling.
The new season will also introduce a new gifting feature into Apex Legends for the first time. Players will be able to send each other gifts such as weapon skins, Legend skins, charms and other items across all of the platforms the game is played on. As long as players have been in-game friends for two weeks or longer, they’ll be able to send each other treats as they see fit. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that Apex Coins cannot be gifted.
Apex Legends: Eclipse launches on November 1. The game is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
