Apex Legends Brings Back Fight or Fright Event for Halloween

October 5, 2022 by Carley Garcia

The festivities have already begun, so jump in and get to work.

Who doesn’t love a good scare? Halloween is just around the corner, and plenty of games are getting into the holiday spirit. Respawn Entertainment has introduced the Fight or Fright event to Apex Legends yearly since the free-to-play shooter was released in 2019, and it’s back. At this very moment, players can take part in themed events to snag some sweet skins, and can also take part in some limited-edition game modes. The event will run until November 1, making it the longest event to be held in the game so far. Each week will bring some spooky new content.

From now until October 11, players can enjoy the Halloween-themed Shadow Royale. This year, the mode is being held in a nighttime version of Olympus, and those who die will become shadow versions of their Legend. These players won’t be able to use weapons, but they can respawn as many times as they please and deal highly increased melee damage. They can also wall run, and as long as one member of a squad is still alive, the fight will continue.

From October 11 until October 18, players can participate in the Gun Run. First introduced in the recent Beast of Prey event, players will need to battle through a gauntlet of weapons, snagging a new one for each kill.

For those who enjoyed the Control mode, it’s set to make a comeback from October 18 until October 25. Two teams of nine fight to control specific areas of the map in this Battlefield adjacent game mode, and this time, players will be able to play on Lava Siphon (World’s Edge), Hammond Labs (Olympus), and Barometer (Storm Point.) It should be noted that the Olympus map will still be the nighttime version.

For those who might miss Shadow Royale, the mode will return for the final week of the event.

Of course, some players may only be jumping in for the exclusive skins. New cosmetics will be available for Seer, Octane, Ash, and Wattson, and these will be available throughout the entirety of the event. Players can either purchase them directly or find them bundled with a number of Apex Packs. If you missed a specific skin during an earlier Fight or Fright event, some will be available again this year. The ever-popular Wraith’s Voidwalker cosmetic will only be available to snag until October 11, while the Pathfinder’s Memoir Noir will be available for purchase between October 11 and October 18.

Apex Legends is available to play on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. Cross-platform play is supported, and the title recieved an iOS and Android version in May 2022. These mobile versions are separate and players cannot interact with those on PC or console.
