EA traditionally hosted its dedicated event in June, during which the publisher announced its biggest projects. The company won’t be holding its EA Play Live event this year. Instead, EA will announce its future games “when the time is right for each of them.”
In a statement to IGN, an EA representative said that the timing wasn’t right to announce all upcoming EA projects in a single event. “We love EA Play Live as it’s our way of connecting with our players and sharing what’s new with all of you”, they said. “However, this year things aren’t lining up to show you everything on one date. We have exciting things happening at our world-class studios and this year we’ll reveal much more about these projects when the time is right for each of them. We look forward to spending time with you throughout the year! ”
EA has hosted a dedicated event for its games since 2016. The EA Play Live event often happens in June, in tandem with the popular E3 event. Last year, the publisher announced several games during EA Play Live, such as Apex Legends: Emergence, Grid Legends, and most importantly the anticipated remake of Dead Space.
Last year, the pandemic forced all events to shift to a digital format. While E3 announced being digital again this year, EA’s event won’t return. We will have to wait for more information about EA’s upcoming games, including the new Need for Speed, Dragon Age 4, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order 2, and a new opus of Mass Effect.
