In what appears to be a slip-up, the official European Steam Page for Sonic Mania has very possibly revealed the game’s release date. The suggested date, which was prominently displayed at the end of the promotional video, was August 15 2017. The current release date shows ‘summer 2017’, which pushes it back a few months. This is consistent with information SEGA has previously presented.
Sonic Mania was delayed earlier this year at SXSW (South by Southwest), with SEGA confirming it would come out in summer as opposed to the initial spring release frame. We don’t know for sure which release date is accurate, or whether the European release date implies US audiences will indeed be waiting a little longer to get their hands on Sonic Mania. Luckily, you can purchase a special collector’s edition package in the mean time. It’s complete with a 12 inch Sonic statue, a SEGA cartridge cast and an iconic golden ring.
Sonic Mania will release for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch—tentatively pencil in August 15.
