Here you’ll find solutions for the Restricted Area section of the story. Each guide explains the basics and any new mechanics introduced. Beneath the introduction, you’ll find a step-by-step guide explaining how to get gold on every stage.
7 – Line of Fire
- This stage introduces automated turrets. Turrets shoot anything that enters their line-of-sight — that’s an instant defeat.
- Turret’s line-of-sight can be blocked by moving guards, or avoided with a cloaking device. The goal of this stage is to avoid the first turret’s line-of-sight with a Cloak, then use the guard to block the line-of-sight of the second turret.
- You can also use the alerted guard to block the shorts from a turret. If you move into a turret’s line-of-sight at the same time as a guard blocks line-of-sight, the turret will fire. If a guard is passive, it will kill the guard. If a guard has a Titan Shield up, it will block the shots.

- GOLD Guide:
- Down (2 spaces) – Collect the Cloak, then enter the guard’s line-of-sight.
- Up (1 space)
- Down (2 spaces) – The Titan Shield guard will block the shots from the turret.
- Right (4 spaces) – Use the Cloak before crossing the second turret’s line-of-sight.

8 – Resourceful
- Now hacking enters the mix. Hacking tiles allow you to deactivate turrets. A hacked turret will shoot at any enemy guards and leave Adam Jensen alone.
- When you enter a hack tile, use your finger to draw a line to one of the turrets. The turret will remain hacked until you change the hack or a guard reaches the hack tile and disables the hack.
- Using a hack tile, like using a Cloak power-up, does cause enemies to move. Only moving onto / off the tile counts will lead to enemy movement. Hacking does count as a turn — making an incorrect hack can lead to wasted turns when going for gold par.
- The goal of this stage is to hack the first turret, get the Cloak, then hack the second turret — using the Cloak to avoid the first turret’s line-of-sight.

- Left (1 space) – Use the hack tile to deactivate the left turret.

- Right (3 spaces) – You’ll enter the guard’s line-of-sight and collect the Cloak here.

9 – Playing Both Sides
- This stage introduces another wrinkle to the hacking formula. Red tiles are impassable tiles that can only be entered when hacked.
- If a hack is removed by a guard while you’re standing on a red tile, it will kill Adam Jensen instantly.
- Red tiles can also trap Titan Shield guards, or block a guard’s path. Red tiles will also block line-of-sight. Hacked red tiles will not break line-of-sight.
- The goal of this stage is to connect the two hack tiles and clear the way for Adam Jensen to reach the exit. Use the first hack tile to hack the top red tile. Get to the second hack tile, and hack the center red tile. Then return to the first (left) hack tile, and hack the final tile to open the path to the exit.

- Down (2 spaces) – Enter the hack tile and hack the top red tile.
- Up (2 spaces)
- Right (2 spaces) – Hack the center red tile.
- Down (2 spaces) – Use the first hack tile to hack the bottom red tile.

10 – Open Secret
- This one is fairly simple, with no new features to make things too complex. Here, you’ll want to reach the hack tile first and hack the red security tile.
- The guard will be alerted — you’ll need to take the guard out to clear the way out. Get the Cloak power-up, move into the left red tile.
- Turn invisible directly infront of the guard, then initiate a takedown to clear the path to the exit. Just that easy! Keep scrolling to see how to get gold.

- Right (2 spaces) – Use the hack tile to hack the left red tile.

11 – Complete Circuit
- Here, we’ll learn another use for the security (red) tiles. You can use security tiles to block guard line-of-sight, or even trap the guard in the security tile.
- This puzzle requires deft use of the hack tiles to open / close security tiles. Locking the guard in gets in the way. You’ll need to open the upper-left security tile, wait for the guard to return to his post, then slip by to the exit after entering the guard’s line-of-sight.
- GOLD Guide:
- Up (1 space) – You’ll enter the guard’s line-of-sight.
- Right (1 space)
- Down (1 space) – Use the hack tile to open the lower-right security tile.
- Right (2 spaces) – Use the second hack tile to open the upper-left security tile.

- Up (1 space) – Enter the guard’s line-of-sight a second time.
- Right (1 space)
- Up (1 space)
- Right (1 space) – Hit that exit.
12 – Trace Back
- Guards, a Cloak, and two security tiles will cause problems. Here, you’ll see that you can sit in the hack tile and hang out even while standing in a guard’s line-of-sight.
- Use the hack tile to clear the left security tile, then grab the Cloak power-up.
- Return to the hack tile, using the Cloak power-up to avoid the guard’s line-of-sight as you hack the right security tile.
- You’ll also see another important aspect of guards — they’ll remove hacks when a guard reaches a hack tile. Watch out! If a guard sees you hack, you won’t be able to exit the stage. Use that Cloak module.

- Right (1 space)
- Up (1 space) – You’ll enter the guard’s line-of-sight here. Hack the left security tile.
- Left (1 space)
- Up (2 spaces) – Collect the Cloak power-up. The security tile will deactivate.
- Left (1 space) – Takedown the guard.
- Down (1 space)
- Right (2 spaces) – Use Cloak before entering the hack tile. Use the hack tile on the right security tile.
- Up (3 spaces)
- Right (1 space) – And that’s the exit.
13 – Shields Up
- Here, you’ll need to avoid the first guard’s line-of-sight and hack a turret to blast him. After that, you’ll learn another useful skill — guards can block turret line-of-sight.
- After killing the first guard, you’ll need to open the left security tile and enter the guard’s line-of-sight, drawing him out so he’s standing infront of the turret.
- Block the guard infront of the turret by un-hacking the security tile on the left, and open the security tile on the right. Once everything is set like the image below, you’re good to escape.
- GOLD Guide:
- Right (1 space)
- Down (1 space)
- Right (2 spaces)
- Up (1 space) – Hack the turret to kill the first guard. After the guard is killed, hack the left security tile.
- Left (1 space) – Enter the guard’s line-of-sight.
- Right (1 space) / Down (1 space) / Up (1 space) – Waiting for the guard to cross the active security tile. Return to the hack tile, and hack the right security tile instead of the left. The guard should now be trapped.
- Down (1 space)
- Up (1 space)
- Left (1 space)
- Up-Right (1 space) – The trapped guard will block the turret’s line-of-sight.
- Right (2 spaces) – Goal!
14 – Ghosts
- The exit to this stage is blocked by multiple security tiles and a turret. The guard is an easy target to takedown.
- Use the two hack tiles to shutdown the turret and the left security tile so Adam Jensen can get his hands on the Cloak module.
- When that’s done, return and swap the hack tile to activate the right security tile. Then use the Cloak to cross the turret’s line-of-sight safely.
- GOLD Guide:
- Right (2 spaces)
- Down (2 spaces) – Takedown the guard here.
- Left (1 space) – Hack the left security tile, and leave space open for the second hack tile to reach the turret.
- Right (1 space)
- Up (3 spaces) – When you reach the hack tile, use it to hack the turret.
- Left (1 space)
- Up (1 space) – Get the Cloak module.
- Down (1 space)
- Right (1 space)
- Down (3 spaces) – Skip the hack tile.
- Left (1 space) – Use the lower hack tile to hack the right security tile.
- Right (1 space)
- Up (3 spaces) – Stop at the hack tile this time, and hack the left security tile. The path to the exit is now open. Use the Cloak module before entering the turret’s line-of-sight.
- Right (2 spaces) – Goal!
