Resident Evil Requiem: How To Get A Better Gun For Grace

March 1, 2026 by Jasper Honea

Get a better handgun for Grace early.

Grace has a better handgun waiting for her in the Rhodes Hill Clinic and you can grab it right away in Resident Evil Requiem. It won’t take long to access the handgun, but it might take you awhile to actually find it — especially if you don’t know where to look. The S&S M232 handgun is a straight improvement over your normal starting weapon on your first playthrough. Each shot is more powerful, and when ammo is this tight, every shot counts. Here’s where to find the weapon and how to get it early.

The S&S M232 is one of the few unlockable weapons in Resident Evil Requiem — Grace normally gets all her weapons automatically or through crafting recipes. Leon gets all his weapons from item box purchases, and there’s only a few weapons in his arsenal that are available to collect in the world. Grace needs her gun even more, so here’s a quick guide on how to get the S&S M232 handgun.

For more unlockable weapons, here’s how to get the Red 9 in Resident Evil 4 Remake, or how to get all the unlockable guns in Resident Evil 7.

How To Get The S&S M232 | Better Handgun

The S&S M232 is Grace’s original handgun and her starting weapon. She loses it after the hotel segment at the start of the game and gets a different weapon in the Rhodes Hill Clinic. Her new starting handgun has worse stats and is generally not as effective as the M232.

  • S&S M232 Handgun Location: Found in the Bar & Lounge on the second floor of the Rhodes Hill Clinic, in the west wing. This is the Administrative Wing, and you’ll reach the lounge before accessing the executive’s office.
  • The handgun is located behind the bar in the room, to the left of the locked safe.

The room is tricky to navigate because there are two zombies and a screaming / singing zombie that patrols nearby. If you want to get the gun, you’ll have to alert the zombies in this room. It is possible to sprint into the room, collect the gun, and sprint out — the singing zombie’s scream ability will hurt and stun Grace, so you may want to defeat her with a shot from the Requiem or sneaking behind her and using an injector for an instakill.

The S&S M232 Handgun is overall more powerful than your other handgun. It’s a better weapon for basically any situation and worth swapping out. You may want to keep your previous handgun to expel the remaining ammo — every shot counts, so you’ll want to use up the rest of your bullets before dumping it in the item box.

There are five Antique Coins to collect in this room, as well. One is on the piano, one is carried by the singing zombie — kill her to find it — and three more are in the safe behind the counter. On normal or casual difficulty, use the code Left 10 -> Right 80 -> Left 30 to unlock the safe and get three coins. That’s enough to buy a permanent upgrade. Very, very useful this early in the game.
