Darkness descends upon Call of Duty: Warzone as The Haunting Event spreads across the battlefield. While the Event adds a horror-themed overlay to the game, there is another Event that is part of The Haunting that has completely changed each match of the Battle Royale title. This Event is Operation Nightmare and sees terrible beasts and creatures roam the deserts of Al Mazrah and the streets of Vondead. Before players decide to head into battle against these beasts, it’s a good idea to understand what they will be going up against. The Haunting Operation Nightmare Event Explained In Call Of Duty: Warzone

Operation Nightmare is a new Event that is part of The Haunting that is active in Warzone as well as Modern Warfare 2 to celebrate the spooky season of Halloween. The Haunting includes a few interesting cosmetic additions, but Operation Nightmare has the biggest impact on the gameplay of Warzone. This Event introduces a group of monsters across Al Mazrah that players are tasked with defeating to unlock unique rewards.

There are a total of 6 monsters, each requiring players to complete an objective to unlock the battle against them. Each enemy also comes with their own unique moveset that players will need to contest against in order to defeat them. You can find The Butcher at Zarowa Hydroelectric, Al Mazrah City, Zaya Observatory, and Al Samman Cemetery in Al Mazrah. It is also the only monster that players can also find on the Vondead map. The Swamp Creature is found in Mawizeh Marshlands. You’ll find The Pharoh in the Oasis. You will find The UFO above the water to the south of the Sawah Village Coastline.

The Ghost Train travels counter-clockwise around the map on the train tracks, replacing the regular cargo train. Unlike most of the other beasts across Al Mazrah, this monster isn’t an actual boss. Instead, this enemy requires you to reach the front of the train and steal its Heart of the Train. Finally, the Evil Spirits are Jumpscares that players will find randomly in loot containers that you open. You need to find a Reaper at Al-Safwa Quarry, a Ghoul in Al Mazrah City, a Specter in Al Bagra Fortress, and a Witch at Al Malik Airport to complete this challenge. You can check out Gameranx’s full guide on how to defeat all of the monsters in the Operation Nightmare Event here.

Rewards For Operation Nightmare

Players are able to fight these monsters in either any of the Battle Royale modes or in the extraction mode DMZ. Defeating each enemy or completing the task mentioned above for the first time will unlock a unique Call Card. The Butcher will also allow you to redeem a QR Code to unlock The Butcher’s Meat Hook in Diablo IV. Completing any 5 of these 6 enemies will unlock the Bloody Mess Weapon Blueprint for the BAS-P SMG.

The Operation Nightmare Event concludes the same day as the Haunting Event on November 6, 2023. You can check out the Infinity Ward blog post regarding the new content in Season 6 linked here.
