Everything you need to know to complete the ‘Dr Young’s Projects’ quest in Redfall.

  • Starting Dr Young’s Projects
  • Dr Young’s Office
  • Opening The Safe
  • Finding Royce Ellery
  • Finding Thomas Sands
  • Finding Matthias Bollinger
  • Quest Reward

Every now and then Redfall throws you for a loop. Just when you thought the game only had fetch and kill missions, you are given something a little bit different. Sure, it’s still not great, but it helps flesh the world out a smidge, and that’s always a good thing. Of course, we are talking about Dr Young’s Projects.

Lawrence Tran, despite being as bland as a 7-week-old cream cracker on the surface, is a man with a dark past. He wants to make amends, however, and that’s why he has entrusted you with uncovering his boss’ secret projects. This guide will walk you through how to complete this quest, and nab that sweet, sweet, EXP.

Starting Dr Young’s Projects

To start this side mission you need to have made it to Burial Point, completed a couple of main missions, and completed Nurse Tran’s other quest, Birdwatchers. Provided you have done all of these things, head to the Maritime Centre and talk to Nurse Tran.

He will ask you to head to his former employer’s office and gather information on some dark projects that were being worked on during his employment. He marks the location on your map.

Dr Young’s Office

To get to Dr Young’s office, you have a few paths. Firstly, you can fast-travel to Burial Point Memorial (which you likely unlocked when you first made it to Burial Point) and then head south. Alternatively, you can fast-travel to Independence Hill and then head north. You can also fast-travel to Windy Stead and head southwest. Failing all of that, go northeast from the Maritime Centre. Pick whichever option you have unlocked, and is the closest to your destination.

You will need to break into the building to access Dr Young’s office. Thankfully this isn’t too difficult. There are giant glass windows surrounding the building and no active alarm system. Break a window and walk in. Dr Young’s office is up the nearby stairs and marked with a plaque on the wall.

Opening The Safe

Once inside the office, you will find a safe near the back of the room. Unfortunately, it’s locked, contains the information you need, and can’t be hacked or picked like other safes. Thankfully, the lock can be opened from this room. Go to Dr Young’s desk. A prompt will appear that opens the safe. Press it and examine the contents.

You will get some information on three men, Royce Ellery, Thomas Sands, and Matthias Bollinger. It’s time to track them all down. They can all be found roughly southwest of your current location.

Finding Royce Ellery

Royce can be found at Ashumet Springs – the northernmost destination on your map. His house is infested with cultists and Bloodbags. Kill them all to clear this part of the quest. Royce is nowhere to be found.

Finding Thomas Sands

Thomas can also be found at Ashumet Springs, although he is slightly to the south of Royce. You will find Thomas in a bit of a pickle, as cultists have him tied up outside of his garage. Kill the cultists and release Thomas to complete this part of the quest. He will make a run for it the moment you set him free, so don’t expect any kind of conversation with him about Dr Young.

Finding Matthias Bollinger

Finally, Matthias Bolliunger. He can be found at Winslow Fields, unfortunately, you are too late. The cultists are all gone, and Matthias is lying dead in his gazebo. Loot the nearby key and read the note to complete the quest.

You can take this key to the nearby shed to kill a locked-up vampire and grab some loot.

Quest Reward

Your reward for completing this quest is the standard 800 EXP. More side missions will unlock as you continue through the main campaign.

That’s all we have for Redfall for now. Be sure to check out our other guides, lists, and walkthroughs for more Redfall content.
