This guide will show players how to get all the RIG Suit upgrades in Dead Space Remake.
How To Get All RIG Suit Upgrades In Dead Space Remake
While there are plenty of RIG Suit skins that you can get through the Deluxe Edition of the game as well as beating the game on its Impossible Difficulty, what we are focusing on here on the Upgrades that you will be able to find aboard the Ishimura. There are a total of 6 RIG levels, with the player having to find specific Schematics across the mining cruiser in order to improve the suit beyond its default state. Once you find any of these Schematics, you will be able to purchase the new suit from any of the shops found throughout the game. Below is a full breakdown of each of these RIG Suit Upgrades.
RIG Suit #1: Default Suit
This is the RIG that Isaac arrives to the Ishimura and doesn’t require any work from the player besides pressing New Game. This suit provides you with the baseline stats and 12 Inventory Slots

RIG Suit #2: First Upgrade
The second RIG Suit can be acquired as soon as you find the first Shop in the game and will be available for purchase for 10,000 Credits. This RIG contains 18 Inventory Slots and will give you a bonus of 5% Armor.
RIG Suit #3: Intermediate Engineer RIG
From this point forward, you will need to find the Schematics of each RIG before you can acquire them at a Shop. Schematics are collectibles that, once picked up, add the item that it is for to the Item Shop for purchase. The Intermediate Engineer RIG Schematic can first be acquired in Chapter 4: Obliteration Imminent. Down in the Water Purification area of the Bridge, you will need to make your way through an airlock to go outside and control the ship’s ADS Cannons after rerouting power to them. In the hallway towards the airlock, enter the EVA Prep Room on the right to find the Schematic sitting on a bench.
With the Schematic, you can now go to any Shop in the game and purchase the Intermediate Engineer RIG for 20,000 Credits and will provide you with 10% Armor and 22 Inventory Slots.
RIG Suit #4: Intermediate Miner RIG
The next Suit, as the name would suggest, is found in the Mining wing of the Ishimura and is unlocked in Chapter 7: Into the Void. Right after you defend Nicole from some Necromorphs, enter the next room where the SOS Beacon is found and you will find the Schematic to the left of the key item.
You can now go to any Shop in the game and purchase the Intermediate Engineer RIG for 20,000 Credits. This Suit provides you with 15% Armor and 26 Inventory Slots.
RIG Suit #5: Advanced Engineering RIG
This is the final RIG Suit you can unlock on a first playthrough. In Chapter 10: End of Days, make your way to the Crew Deck and into the showers near the Z-Ball court. Sitting on a bench next to the door to the cafeteria is the final RIG Schematic.
The Advanced Engineering RIG will provide you with 20% Armor and 30 Inventory Slots for 60,000 Credits.
RIG Suit #6: EDF RIG
The final RIG Upgrade is a reward for completing the game and unlocking New Game Plus. To acquire this final Suit, simply start a New Game Plus playthrough and make your way to the first Shop of the game. You will be able to purchase this Advanced Soldier RIG for 99,000 Credits and will remain at 30 Inventory Slots but will receive 30% Armor.
With all of that, you will have unlocked every upgrade for your RIG Suit and can now fully upgrade the Suit by using Nodes at Workbenches. Stay tuned to Gameranx for guides, tips, and tricks on the achievements and trophies for the Dead Space Remake.
