10 Weirdest Easter Eggs Of 2019

December 30, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Uncover the weirdest secrets of 2019 with our top ten list, counting down the best Easter eggs of the year.

Mysterious Messages From Beyond (Layers of Fear 2)

Layers of Fear 2 is already a spooky game, but this strange secret is the weirdest of all. As you explore the haunted ship, you can find four missing mysterious objects — they don’t seem to do anything, unless you look through the telescope in your room for a long time. Look long enough, and a seashell will appear that you can collect.

The seashell appears at the mysterious object altar, and hooking the shell up to each object unlocks strange, super-creepy audio clips detailing the mysterious origins of the monstrous muse that infects the protagonists of Layers of Fear 1 and Layers of Fear 2. Yes, you’ll actually get to hear the mad ramblings of the main character from the first game. It’s super hard to find, and super creepy.

Learn more about this super-creepy secret with our full guide here.

BB & Hideo Kojima Jumpscares (Death Stranding)

Death Stranding isn’t a horror game, but it does indulge in some spooky jumpscares — even if they’re more playful than dread-inducing. By looking around your Private Room, you can explore lots of fun interactions with Norman Reedus, the hero of the game. When you look at your little baby BB, sometimes he’ll smash through his glass container in a surprising cut, or hide his face and reveal a weirdo version of Guillermo Del Toro!

The best of the bunch comes when you stare at the ground beneath Reedus’s feet. Look long enough, and a black specter BT in the form of Hideo Kojima will appear. His signature glasses are unmistakable, even in evil ghost form.
