#15 Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order
It’s been a number of years now since we have received a new installment to the Marvel Ultimate Alliance video game franchise but during The Game Awards 2018 we were surprised by the third installment announcement. Though what may be most surprising is that this upcoming video game will be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. Regardless, the upcoming title will take place after the events of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 with the main antagonist duo being Galactus and Thanos. We’re still relatively left in the dark as to what all we can expect from the game, but we do know that Marvel’s heroes along with The Masters of Evil are in a grand battle against Galactus in order to save earth.
#14 Metro Exodus
In Metro Exodus game players will be going through the world after a nuclear war leaving most everywhere in shambles. Likewise, players will still be dealing with a wide variety of hostilities such as the creatures that lurk about. Within the game, you will be stepping into the shoes of Artyom following the events of Metro: Last Light. Artyom is seeking to travel east in order to start a new life though the journey to achieve this new life will span across a year. The Metro series is not one to really be a big triple AAA release but this installment felt the most visually and fine-tuned. The game also has plenty of exciting environments to explore and moments that will have you on the edge of your seat. Take a look of our Before You Buy video upload posted above to see some of the gameplay in action along with some more pros, cons and personal opinions.
#13 Mortal Kombat 11
Mortal Kombat is a staple to the fighting genre with so many titles flooding the market across generations of platforms. In a surprise reveal at The Game Awards 2018 we got our first announcement that developers over at NetherRealm Studios are working on the eleventh main installment to the Mortal Kombat franchise. We don’t know very much at all regarding this game other than what was shown off during the first reveal trailer.
Within the trailer we saw Scorpion and Raiden battling and it looks like there will be some time element at play when a female character was shown next to a reverse flowing hourglass. For those who pre-order the game, you will receive access to Shao Kahn as a bonus character but we imagine that the developers have character packs readily available throughout the game’s launch serving as additional past Mortal Kombat characters to other franchise crossovers much like their previous release, Mortal Kombat X.
#12 Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is the sequel to the 2015 release, Ori, and the Blind Forest. Within the game, players will take on the role of Ori who is the white guardian spirit. Much like the last installment, this is a platform style video game in which players must complete a series of puzzles in order to progress. As you progress, new abilities will be unlocked for players to use which also acts as mean to reach previously unobtainable areas.
#11 Pokemon Sword & Shield
The Pokemon franchise is long-running and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. After mainly being an RPG series that stayed with Nintendo’s line of handheld devices, Game Freak is bringing out the first new main entry to the Nintendo Switch later this year. Currently, the two installments are known as Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield which will take place in the Galar region. This region is filled with a variety of landscapes and landmarks. While we’re still waiting to hear about the new features that will come with the game, players who are familiar with the previous installments will find that the beginning section of the game will have a choice presented before the journey really begins. Pokemon Sword & Shield will have players deciding which starter to take which are the grass-type Grookey, fire-type Scorbunny, and lastly, the water-type Sobble.
