The 30 Biggest Video Game Franchises Returning In 2019

April 3, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

2019 is full of returning video game franchises.

#25 Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 5 is one of the few titles currently out right now for the spring releases. This title puts players into the shoes of a few different characters such as Nero who was present in Devil May Cry 4 and we have to say the game is very fluid with its combat, much like the previous installments. In terms of the narrative, the game picks up after the events of Devil May Cry 4 which follows Nero, Dante and a new character named V as the have to deal with a new powerful demonic invasion. We won’t spoil too much here and we suggest checking out our Before You Buy episode upload on the game posted above.

#24 Dragon Quest: Builders 2

Dragon Quest Builders is a sandbox action RPG that’s set within the world of Alefgard. This is a more lighthearted adventure with similar visuals to titles such as Minecraft and Terraria. In the narrative, players are off to revive the world which has been flooded with monsters, however, in order to rebuild the world players must also seek out and manage resources.

The video game doesn’t feature a complex combat system like the main installments within the franchise. Furthermore, the title has since already launch on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms whereas the PlayStation 3 version of the game remains a Japanese exclusive. It was only until this past year that Nintendo Switch owners were able to get a copy of this game but it looks like this won’t be the last installment to the Builder series of Dragon Quest. A sequel is currently in the works and its slated to launch within July of this year.

#23 Dying Light 2

The sequel to Dying Light is launching in 2019. Once again, players will be fighting against a horde of undead with stronger enemies lurking out at night. One of the new elements that the game will be bringing to the table is the narrative journey.

This time around, within Dying Light 2 players will have some control on the story. Missions will give players more freedom in choice likewise there are dialogue options which can drastically alter your protagonist’s journey and gameplay.

#22  Gears of War 5

Gears of War 5, which is also known simply as Gears 5, will follow a female protagonist Kait Diaz. So far what we know about the game is that the story will follow Kait as she embarks away from COG, or known as The Coalition of Ordered Governments Army. Apparently, within the game, Kait has been dealing with visions that may take her journey to showcase truth behind the origins of the Locust. Gameplay seems to be inline with the past installments. Players will be going through cover-based combat while also sawing through hostilities.

#21 Halo: Infinite

We really can’t go into too much detail about Halo: Infinite as there hasn’t been really any information released so far about the game. This will be the next major installment to the Halo franchise which will continue the story for Master Chief. A small teaser was released during E3 2018 and since then the development team over at 343 Industries have yet to give any information regarding just what gamers can expect. Instead, players should prepare for more Master Chief and perhaps another encounter against Cortana but that’s purely speculative. At any rate, after coming off Halo 5: Guardians, a game that wasn’t as well-received in comparison to past installments, it will be interesting to see just what 343 Industries brings to the table next to sway gamers back to the long-running franchise.
