Top Holiday Gift Ideas For Nintendo Switch Platform

December 5, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

The best holiday gift ideas for the Nintendo Switch platform 2018.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

  • Developer: Ubisoft
  • Publisher: Ubisoft

Mario and the Rabbids franchises have collided with the release of Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. Developed under Ubisoft, Mario and his new team of Rabbids are against Bowser and his clan. This is a turn-based tactical RPG which is a bit different then majority of the Mario games we’re used to playing. There is even a Donkey Kong themed expansion available if you end up enjoying the base game.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

  • Developer: Retro Studios
  • Publisher: Nintendo

This is another video game title that was originally available on the Nintendo Wii U though after the console received its short lifespan cycle, Nintendo opted to release the game once again for the Nintendo Switch.

Being the fifth main installment to the Donkey Kong County series, players who enjoyed the past installments will find many of the same elements and mechanics to return. As a result, if you enjoy platform titles, solving puzzles and collecting a plethora of items along the way then Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is an easy recommendation.

Splatoon 2

  • Developer: Nintendo
  • Publisher: Nintendo

The sequel to the much beloved third-person shooter, Splatoon, is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Splatoon 2 is still retains the cartoonish and kid friendly shooter experience where teams attempt to cover the map with their team’s color. Likewise, Splatoon 2 also features a narrative journey single-player mode with other online game modes to face against players and friends.

  • Developer: Bandai Namco Games
  • Publisher: Nintendo

One of the biggest announcements to have come from Nintendo’s March 2018 Direct was official word of Super Smash Bros. 2018 will see the delivery of a Super Smash Bros video game title on the Nintendo Switch.

The latest upcoming installment to Super Smash Bros. is titled Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and it seems that the game will feature a massive roster of fighters. We’ve been seeing teases and Nintendo Directors for this upcoming game set to release within the holiday season of this year though the hype may be based around the number of fighters you’ll be able to select from.

Nintendo is bringing every character ever featured within a Super Smash Bros. video game back into this upcoming installment. Likewise, Nintendo is adding even more characters into the collection such as Metroid’s Ridley, Splatoon Inklings, Castlevania’s Simon Belmont and Donkey Kong’s rival, King K. Rool.

But wait there’s more! Turns out that Nintendo is still planning on new character announcements as we closer to the titles launch date. This is undoubtedly a system seller for the Nintendo Switch and we imagine bundles will be bought up rather quickly.

Celeste

  • Developer: Matt Makes Games
  • Publisher: Matt Makes Games

Celeste is a platformer developed under Matt Thorson and Noel Berry. The video game is a fast-paced platformer where players take control of a young girl named Madeline. Overall, the goal within the game is to climb up a massive mountain known as Celeste Mountain.

This is an addictive platformer where players will have to make quick maneuvers around the levels to avoid obstacles along with gathering collectibles along the way. However, there is an engaging story that will pull players in as you find out more about the mountain and our heroine.
