How To Unlock Pack-a-Punch
Step #1: Build The Signal Amplifier
For the first step, you need to construct an Amplifier and unlock the teleporter in the War Room. To get all the parts, just check the locations listed below.
- Part #1: Metal Housing
- Location #1: Main Offices – In the back of the room, near the perk machine. Look under the hanging flag on the left.
- Location #2: Main Offices – On a desk in the center of the office.
- There may be more locations. I’ll update this guide with more locations as they’re discovered.
- Part #2: Wired Device
- Location #1: Morgue – On the small metal shelf next to a corpse’s head, in the iron lung devices on the left.
- Location #2: Morgue – To the right of the small office, on a desk near the hallway door.
- Location #3: Morgue – In the office, on the desk chair.
- There may be more locations. I’ll update this guide with more locations as they’re discovered.
- Part #3: Metal Part
- Flip all four Defcon switches in the War Room. Three switches are located in the War Room (Upper / Lower Level) and one switch is in the Server Room.
- Enter the teleporter that activates in the center of the room. It takes you to the Panic Room.
- In the Panic Room, collect the final part behind the secret door that opens up.
Now that you have all three parts, return to the workbench in Weapons Testing. Construct the Amplifier at a workbench and collect it.
Step #2: Enhance The War Room Teleporter
Now that you have the Amplifier, take it down to the War Room and find the teleporter. Look at the base of the teleporter, and you’ll be able to place the Teleporter Signal Amplifier. Place it, then reactivate all five Defcon switches.
When all five switches are activated, you’ll unlock the teleporter in the center of the War Room. Stepping into the portal takes you to Groom Lake, AKA Area 51. The Pack-a-Punch Machine is right there!
Step #3: Pack-a-Punch!
The Pack-a-Punch is accessible in Groom Lake through the enhanced teleporter. You just need to visit this location whenever you want to power-up your weapons. Insert the weapon you’re holding into the Pack-a-Punch to upgrade it. It costs 5,000 points per use.
You can stay indefinitely. Just use the main teleporter in the back of the area to exit. To return, reactivate the Defcon switches to turn on the teleporter again.
How To Build The Shield
- Part #1: Piece
- Location #1: Central Filing – Directly left as you enter from the Side Passage.
- Location #2: Central Filing – Look in the back-right corner, leaning against two windows.
- Location #3: Central Filing – Leaning against the filing cabinets in the middle of the room.
- Part #2: Shield
- Location #1: War Room: Lower Level – Near base of the steps. From the top of the stairs, go down, then turn left and left again at the floor. The piece is leaning against the cage, under the stairs.
- Location #2: War Room: Lower Level – Just to the right of the central teleporter.
- Location #3: War Room: Lower Level – Back right of the room, tucked behind the computer terminal.
- Part #3: Metal Chunk
- Location #1: South Laboratories – Opposite the power switch.
- Location #2: South Laboratories – Near the purple teleporter in the back-right corner. Next to the cart with crates, under the broken window.
- Location #3: North Laboratories – Follow the long power wire to the far teleporter. As it turns right, look for the part near a zombie spawn window.
How To Get The Winter’s Howl
Step #1: Get The Main Offices Code
You can collect the following codes in any order.
- Get The Key: The key is found on a key rack, on the wall in the War Room: Lower Level, just outside the locked Panic Room doors. [Interact] to collect the key.
- Unlock the Desk: Use the key on the mostly-clear middle desk in the Main Offices. Look for a desk with the clock in the center. [Interact] to unlock the drawer.
- The first four-digit code will appear on a picture inside the drawer.
Write down or screenshot the code.
Step #2: Get The Panic Room Code
To get this code, you need to enter the Panic Room. Flip the Defcon switches in a specific order, then use the teleporter to access the second secret code.
- Flip The Defcon Switches In This Order: Far-Right From Elevator Upper Level, Server Room, Left From Elevator Upper Level, Lower Level.
Enter the Panic Room through the War Room teleporter, then find the television screen on the left. It’s on the lower rack. [Interact] with it, and the second secret code will appear when the TV slides back.
Step #3: Get The Deserted Hallway Code
For this secret code, you will need an explosive weapon. Standard grenades will not work. You can Pack-a-Punch the shotgun, or Pack-a-Punch the starting revolver. Or, use the Mystery Box for an explosive.
To make the third code appear, you’ll need to shoot the paintings in the Deserted Hallway in a specific order. This will only work if you shoot the paintings with an explosive weapon. Shoot them in the right order very quickly.
- Shoot The Portraits In This Order:
- There are three portraits to the right of George Washington.
- Shoot them in this order — middle, left, right.
The George Washington nameplate will open and reveal the third secret code.
Step #4: Get The South Laboratories Code
The final code is found in the South Laboratories. In the hallway outside the Weapons Testing Lab, look for a zombie window with a metal box inside. There’s a keypad directly left of the window.
Throw a frag grenade at the metal crate in this room. This is a weird one. Just keep throwing grenades — if you hear a chime, the last code picture will appear on the wall directly right of the window.
Step #5: Input The Codes & Get To Groom Lake
Go to the War Room: Lower Level and find the number input. It’s on the right side of a huge panel. Shoot the numbers to change them, then [Interact] with the red button to input the code.
You’ll need to input the codes in a specific order.
- Code Input Order:
- Deserted Hallway Code
- Main Offices Code
- South Laboratories Code
- Panic Room Code
After that, flip the four Defcon switches and travel to Groom Lake (Pack-a-Punch) through the War Room teleporter.
Step #6: Survive Three Rounds
The next step is simple. You just need to survive three rounds in the Pack-a-Punch area. Don’t leave Area 51, a.k.a. Groom Lake for three full rounds.
If you survive that long, a door will clear to the left of the Pack-a-Punch. In the corner of this new area, you’ll find a weapon case that contains the Winter’s Howl Wonder Weapon.
- The Winter’s Howl is an ice-blasting shotgun-like weapon that freezes multiple enemies with each shot.
The Winter’s Howl can also be Pack-a-Punched to create the Winter’s Fury.
Secret Easter Egg Song
Like all previous secret song Easter eggs, to unlock the song and make it play all over the map, you’ll need to find three collectibles and interact with them. There is no prompt to interact, so make sure to hold down the button when facing each item. For this song, you need to find three hidden Vodka Bottles.
- Vodka Bottle Locations:
- Bottle #1: War Room: Lower Level – Down the steps from the Upper Level, go to the back-right corner and look under the terminal.
- Bottle #2: Central Filing – From the Side Passage door, go all the way to the back and you’ll find this bottle on top of the last row of filing cabinets.
- Bottle #3: Porcine Research – In the back-left corner of the lab, found below the War Rooms. As you enter, go to the back-left corner to find an open cabinet with a bottle inside.
Jumpscare Easter Egg
This jumpscare flashes the old Richtofen face model. Yeah, it’s real ugly.
- Location: Groom Lake – Go to the Pack-a-Punch room (check the guides linked above for details) to access Groom Lake. Once you arrive via teleporter, leave the starting area, and turn left. Use a sniper scope to look at the door on the satellite array in the distance — it’s the door under a bright white light.
If you look at the door, Richtofen’s face will jump out at you. Spooky!
