30 Fortnite: Battle Royale Secrets & Settings The GAME DOESN’T TELL YOU

May 26, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Stay competitive in Fortnite: Battle Royale with 30 secrets and settings you really need to know. From controller configurations, to graphics settings, to in-game secrets, here’s all the vital information the game doesn’t explain..

#26 You Earn More XP (And Faster) With The Battle Pass

Fortnite: Battle Royale is totally free, until you want to start earning more rewards. There are two different reward tiers — Free Pass and Battle Pass. With Battle Pass, you’ll get weekly challenges (and daily challenges) you can complete — therefore, you’ll be earning way more XP just for completing these challenges.

NOTE: If you haven’t unlocked everything in the Battle Pass Tier when the season is over, you’ll lose your chance forever. If you want to speed up the unlocking process, you can spend V-Bucks (real currency) to unlock tiers.

You’ll also get XP Boosters for free while leveling up your Battle Pass. Both Battle Pass and Free Pass rewards are totally cosmetic — there aren’t any Lootboxes, so there’s no need to spend money if you want to stay competitive. Everything you need is in the game already, all totally free. If you want to look awesome in one of the unlockable costumes, or grab any of the locked cosmetic stuff, you’ll need to buy a Battle Pass and start grinding to earn XP.

#25 Don’t Enter Buildings Through The Front Door, Use The Roof Instead

See those doors on a building? That’s a beginner’s trap. If you suspect someone is hiding inside a structure, it’s much better to use ramps and reach the rooftop, then pickaxe through the ceiling and drop inside unannounced. Not a bad idea for empty buildings either — sometimes you can’t access the top floor without building stairs anyway, so might as well collect some wood and fully explore a building.

Staying vertical is very important in Fortnite. If you’re above an opponent, you’ve cover and a place to easily retreat (also easier headshots, duh) — that’s why you’ll want to practice your building skills. One of the best things to build is the ramp — it will give you a wall to block shots and a ramp you can use to get above your opponent.

NOTE: In the Settings, turn OFF “Reset Building Choice” if you’re a beginner. You can leave your building choice on ramp, then immediately drop ramps in the middle of a fight. Easy! Turn ON “Reset Building Choice” later if you like swapping between different choices.
