Far Cry: New Dawn
- Developer: Ubisoft
- Publisher: Ubisoft
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: February 15, 2019
Note: Spoilers for Far Cry 5
If you enjoyed Far Cry 5 then you know that the ending leaves you hanging. At the end of the game you find that the world is on the brink of collapsing due to the end of the world and you find yourself stuck with the antagonist where the game ends following credits. Now if you’re hoping to find out what happens after the credits roll and what has happened to Hope County after the nuclear blast then you’ll get the opportunity in Far Cry New Dawn. This title takes place seventeen years after the events of Far Cry 5 where you will find returning characters from Far Cry 5 and the result of the protagonist and antagonist of Far Cry 5.
With Hope County mangled and distorted by the nuclear blast, players will find new land masses to explore. Survivors have started to rebuild the world but a new threat of bandits has prevented Hope County from truly being free from tyranny control. Players will be stepping up to free up outposts and preventing from the new bandit group controlled by twin sisters from destroying Hope County and the innocent citizens who dwell within it.
From the gameplay footage we have seen so far, it looks like the same gameplay mechanics are intact. Players will be fighting off bandits through an array of guns you scavenge along the way. There is even a brand new weapon introduced to the game series which fires out circular saw blades. Far Cry 5 provided not only action moments throughout the campaign but a narrative adventure that had you seeking out Joseph Seed and his crew. We’re expecting another enticing antagonist lead with the new twin girls that will leave us wondering just how everyone has handled Hope County since its demise seventeen years prior. Likewise, it will be quite the adventure to go through as you learn the results of Joseph Seed and our protagonist as they took aid by living in a secluded bunker trapping them together during the nuclear war.
The Outer Worlds
- Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
- Publisher: Private Division
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: 2019
Obsidian Entertainment is a well-known and beloved video game development studio after they have released countless iconic RPG titles. For instance, the developers were responsible for Fallout: New Vegas and during The Game Awards 2018 came the announcement of The Outer Worlds. This is a brand new experience which resembles a bit like their past Fallout: New Vegas work. Within the game players will be embarking on an adventure set in the distant future where mankind has colonized space. So far we know that players will be investigating megacorporations to find just how strong of a hold they have on life and the colonized worlds.
Just like with past RPG titles developed under Obsidian Entertainment, the gameplay narrative will present players with multiple answers and options. Depending on the options selected may result in various branching storylines. Unfortunately, we don’t have to many details regarding the game narrative and gameplay mechanics. However, as mentioned, this is an RPG adventure so players can still expect to see various customization options and a massive world to explore.
The Outer Worlds quickly found its way on several gamers lists worldwide as a video game title to watch out for in 2019. With Obsidian Entertainment a trusted developer name who has had their hands on countless beloved titles, it’s a safe bet that this game will include a deep narrative adventure mixed with over-the-top action moments.

Players will be able to join together and venture through new locations along with environments. It appears that Mojang is also bringing out new weapons and items for players to make use of when they start their adventure. Currently, there is no specific release date attached to the project yet, but we can expect to enjoy the game within this year for the PC. Control
- Developer: Remedy Entertainment
- Publisher: 505 Games
- Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
- Release: 2019
From the development team that has brought out the Max Payne franchise and Alan Wake comes their next big release, Control. The game acts much like their other line of video game titles as players will be going through the game as a third-person shooter. From what we know so far about the game, Remedy Entertainment is telling a story of a woman named Jesse Faden. Jesse was granted unexplained supernatural powers after a childhood traumatic experience and it’s her goal to finally get some questions answered about her past. Joining up with The Oldest House, a Federal Bureau headquarters that study supernatural phenomena, Jesse ends up dealing with more than she bargained for. A new otherworldly force has invaded The Oldest House leaving Jesse to fight back using any means necessary and perhaps at the end she’ll finally learn about her past.
There are a few elements to Control that will hopefully keep players intrigued. Players will be able to make use of supernatural abilities when fighting against enemy threats, but the mystery surrounding Jesse’s past may slowly get peeled away. This is a title that was shown off during E3 2018 and we’re hoping that E3 2019 will provide further details in regards to the gameplay mechanics along with the story. Likewise, perhaps we’ll finally get a specific release date attached to the game outside of a general 2019 launch window.
Halo: Infinite
- Developer: 343 Industries
- Publisher: Microsoft
- Platforms: PC, XBO
- Release: TBD
We really can’t go into too much detail about Halo: Infinite as there hasn’t been really any information released so far about the game. This will be the next major installment to the Halo franchise which will continue the story for Master Chief. A small teaser was released during E3 2018 and since then the development team over at 343 Industries have yet to give any information regarding just what gamers can expect. Instead, players should prepare for more Master Chief and perhaps another encounter against Cortana but that’s purely speculative. At any rate, we’re hoping that more information about the upcoming Halo title will be revealed during E3 this year so stay tuned for future updates.
We’re sure that you’re familiar with the Halo franchise as its one of the biggest Microsoft exclusives since the early days of the original Xbox. This series puts players into an action-adventure narrative where players are often fighting against the odds through various alien invasions. Halo 5: Guardians did set us up to potentially see Master Chief having to deal with his once-trusty companion Cortana. However, at this point, we don’t know what exactly the narrative will be or any changes 343 Industries is bringing to the upcoming installment.
