Top Upcoming Racing Video Games of 2018

2018 is quickly approaching and with it will come a slew of new video game titles to look forward in playing. With that said, now’s a good time to start marking down what video games to keep an eye on. Let us lend a hand, in this list, in particular, we’re going over the top racing video games launching in 2018.

#10 Gravel
  • Developer: Milestone S.r.l
  • Publisher: Milestone S.r.l
  • Platforms: PC, PS4
  • Release: February 27, 2018

As you may expect from the title, Gravel takes racing to the off-road tracks. Players will find themselves placed into the extreme terrains across the world as they barrel their ways through the course striving to win first place.

Expect a slew of different environments, spectacular scenery, intense speeds, and powerful cars when Gravel launches. Within the narrative, players will be taking part in the wild show Gravel Channel web TV which will host racers to tracks across the world.


#9 MX vs ATV All Out

  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: March 27, 2018

MX vs ATV has been a present racing franchise for years now. The first video game title of the series released back 2005 and now you can pick up the latest installment.

Just as before, players can expect an off-road experience with game modes Supercross, Nationals, Opencross, Waypoint, and Tag. Outside of just racing, you can practice a long list of stunts, customize gear, and own a garage to tweak your various vehicles.


#8 Antigraviator

  • Release: June 6, 2018

Similar to the Wipeout and F-Zero franchises, Antigraviator is an anti-gravity style racer. Set in the future where scientific breakthroughs have allowed new high-speed floating vehicles known as Grav’s to become a new main source of travel. This has also resulted in a new phenomenon for racing events.

Players will hop into a Grav and race against other bots or players in light-speed mayhem. Likewise, the game will feature a slew of weapons and abilities to collect along the tracks. Included in the mix are mines and missiles along with closing off select sections of the track.


#7 F1 2018

  • Release: August 24, 2018

The F1 video game series has been a popular simulator style racing title that follows the different Formula One World Championship seasons. For fans of the sport and season of races, F1 2018 will mark as a must-have especially for the variety of tweaks and adjustments you can make to the car.

For instance, developers Codemasters have noted that players will still be able to make revisions to the engine, chassis, and aerodynamics of the car. However, there will be a step down in terms of complexity from the previous F1 iteration as players were losing interest in the development cycle of the car prior to completing the season.

If you picked up F1 2017 and found it to be just a bit too complex to enjoy fully then F1 2018 may prove to be a worthy purchase.


#6 Ride 3

A new installment to the Ride franchise is slated to launch at some point in 2018. The series is dominantly a motorcycle racing game with Ride 3 containing over two hundred motorcycles and thirty tracks.

For example, players will find bikes that range from being sports, supermoto, endurance, and café racer based. Already we know that the game will feature twelve new tracks that were previously not featured in the series. Included in the mix are GP circuits, city tracks, country tracks and supermoto tracks.


#5 Onrush

  • Platforms: PS4, XBO
  • Release: June 5, 2018

If you enjoy arcade style racing video games then you’ll want to check out Onrush. This is a fast-paced and tense racer that mixes up cars, motorcycles and off-road vehicles. Players will be racing over harsh terrains all the while being able to use a specialized boost to increase the vehicle speed.

Within the game, players will be able to perform tricks and stunts to increase the boost gauge while also slamming into opponents to cause wrecks.


#4 The Crew 2

  • Publisher: Ubisoft
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: March 16, 2018

Within The Crew 2, players will find an open world environment to roam and race though unlike most racing video game titles, The Crew 2 won’t limit players to just cars.

Instead, within the video game, players can traverse and race cars, boats, or even planes. As for the narrative of The Crew 2, players take on the role of an unknown racer who must work his way up the ranks.


#3 Danger Zone 2

  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: July 13, 2018

Danger Zone 2 is essentially a spiritual successor to the Burnout franchise. Overall, the game puts players into a variety of fast cars as they barrel down the road avoiding traffic in an attempt to beat the clock and get the furthest among your friends.

However, for those who crash, you’ll experience mayhem of chaos as you can cause massive pileups and attempt to cause damage across the roadways. If you enjoyed Burnout then you won’t want to pass up Danger Zone 2.


#2 Wreckfest

  • Publisher: Bugbear Entertainment
  • Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
  • Release: June 14, 2018 (November 20, 2018 PS4, XBO)

Wreckfest was previously known online as Next Car Game and later Next Car Game: Wreckfest. This is a demolition derby-style racing game by the same creators who brought out the FlatOut series.

There are two main game modes to Wreckfest, one being a more traditional style racing experience while the other offers gamers a chance to survive a demolition derby. Developers offer soft-body damage modeling within their game engine which will allow a vehicle to drive realistically after being damaged.

The development process for Wreckfest hasn’t been the smoothest either as Bugbear Entertainment couldn’t find enough publisher support for the game. This led the development team to seek funding through Kickstarter which also failed, but after sending out a playable technology sneak peek of their video game, hype grew for Wreckfest and allowed developers to continue the project from the amount of video game pre-orders.


#1 Forza Horizon 4

The Forza series, in general, does fantastic in the market though that statement is especially true with their Horizon line. Forza Horizon 4 will still follow the same feel and tone as the past installments though it will be taking place in a fictionalized United Kingdom.

With over four hundred licensed cars, players can race among each other through the variety of intense high-speed tracks. Likewise, there are servers that will support up to seventy-two players making races filling and competitive.


Burnout Paradise Remastered

  • Publisher: Electronic Arts
  • Platforms: PS4, PS3, XBO, X360
  • Release: March 16, 2018, (PC TBA 2018)

If you haven’t already enjoyed Burnout Paradise when it first launched then we highly suggest giving this game a go. There is a remastered edition available for most console platforms with PC players receiving a copy of the game later this year.

Obviously, we loved the game when it first released back in 2008 and now that the remastered edition gives the title a fresh coat of paint and some new tweaks, Burnout Paradise Remastered makes for a well worth purchase.


V-Rally 4

  • Release: September 1, 2018

Years have passed since we seen a V-Rally game release into the market but now a fourth main installment is finally releasing for PC and console platforms this year. This is a rally racing video game where players will be maneuvering through a variety of terrain courses.

As mentioned, it has been years since a game released for the series so we’re keeping a close eye on this upcoming installment and we suggest keeping tabs open for the game as well.


MotoGP 18

  • Release: June 7, 2018

MotoGP 18 is aimed for gamers who are interested in more simulated bike racing games. Much like F1 2018, MotoGP 18 is based around an actual season of racing where players compete across nineteen tracks, a plethora of bikes and the ability to manage the equipment used.
