It’s almost been a week since the official Nintendo Switch 2 announcement and people are still going nuts about it in a good and bad way. There are obviously some “haters” out there who feel that Nintendo “didn’t do enough with the announcement” or that it was just an “upgraded Switch.” Those are the comments you should avoid taking to heart because Nintendo knew exactly what it was doing with that reveal, and an “upgrade of a previous platform” is literally what consoles have been doing for a long time. Those who aren’t hating on the new system are trying to learn more about it however possible, especially when it comes to the system’s true release date.
Currently, we know it’ll come out in 2025 via the reveal video. We also know that the Nintendo Direct to highlight the platform’s software lineup will arrive on April 2nd, which isn’t that far away. Thus, many people expect the console to be out within a few months of that Direct. That’s where the publisher Nacon comes into play. It released a special financial report that noted the Nintendo Switch 2 and said that it expects the console to be released between April and September:
Obviously, this is just speculation on Nacon’s part, but it’s a fair guess given past history. When The Big N did its OG Switch reveal in January 2017, the Switch arrived less than two months later. So, people are expecting something similar here.
Plus, let’s not forget that Nintendo announced the “experience” events all over the world, where people would get to try out the Switch 2 for themselves to see what it’s like. Those events end in early June, which some are feeling will be just before the console debuts.
Again, this is all speculation, but Nacon’s words do ring true here, especially since it noted that it has games being made for the system alongside some accessories.
The fact that so many people are guessing, speculating, and leaking things about Nintendo’s upcoming console proves its popularity despite only being seen via a video so far. People have wanted to get their hands on this system for a while now, and now that Nintendo has revealed it and teased when more information is coming, the hype will build to an even higher level than before.
Thus, you can expect more news like this as we draw closer to the April Nintendo Direct because many will try to guess what will be revealed next.
