The hype around Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is building, and that’s a good thing, especially given the results of certain “other” video game adaptations this year. Regardless of that, people are excited to see what they do with Shadow The Hedgehog in his live-action debut. Oh, and the fact that he’s voiced by the one and only Keanu Reeves definitely makes this a film worth checking out. We’re just saying. An interesting twist that popped up a few days ago was that Paramount Pictures announced that they were giving away a special Shadow-themed poster to those who got early tickets to the upcoming Transformers One film.
Many wondered why they were doing this, as it reeked of a “weird cross-promotion” endeavor to use the hype for one film to make people go watch another. Also, doing this “just for a poster” did not feel like the best kind of reward. So, the official movie handle revealed that it wasn’t just posters that would be given away at participating theaters; it would be posters signed by Keanu Reeves!
So, yeah, that’s pretty cool, and given that there are only 300 given away, that would make it quite a rare item that many people would love to collect. Heck, even if you’re just a Keanu Reeves fan, that’s something fun that you might want to collect.
While we don’t see a good shot of the poster in the Keanu photo, another person posted what it looked it:
Yes, that is Shadow doing the “Akira Slide,” which is something we know will happen in the movie. After all, Shadow is known for his “motorcycle skills,” among other things.
All jokes aside, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is getting plenty of buzz not just because of the Keanu reveal but because the first two films have built up plenty of goodwill with fans and critics. Remember that the first film was actually delayed heavily because of the “Ugly Sonic” scandal that fans demanded fixed. They did it, and the movie was better because of it. Then, they brought in Idris Elba to voice Knuckles and help take the film franchise to the next level.
Now, they’re bringing in Shadow, another Eggman, both versions of which will be played by Jim Carrey, and possibly setting up even further stories down the line.
This could be the best long-form video game movie series ever, and that has fans excited for the film’s release in December.
