Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Trailer Compares Scenes To Original 1997 Release

June 9, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Look how the latest trailer compares to its original counterpart.

Fans were thrilled to see Square Enix was going to return back and give fans a remake of a classic installment to the Final Fantasy franchise. With the remake announcement of Final Fantasy VII, it wasn’t long afterward that the development team revealed this remake would be released in parts. It was too big of a project to release the entire game in just one go. As a result, we’ve been waiting on the second installment of this remake to launch.

Fortunately, for fans of the franchise that tuned into the Summer Game Fest event, you caught the latest trailer reveal for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. This gave fans another look into the game, with the launch window set for sometime early in 2024. But while we wait for the game to launch, fans are already dissecting the latest trailer to drop. As a result, we’re getting some rather incredible comparison videos posted online of how the latest scenes compare to the original Final Fantasy VII game release. One of the videos to pop up online comes from a Twitter user, Huntevs5.

This video offers a comparison between the scenes of the remake and the original scenes that played out. This includes the different characters, environments, and action sequences. It’s pretty wild to see how far we’ve come in the video game industry and how much the game visuals have improved over the console generations. You can view the video comparison in the tweet we have embedded right above.

Of course, if you missed out on the Summer Game Fest event, you can catch the full trailer release from the event in the video we have embedded at the top of this article. Hopefully, that will help tie you over until the game’s next showcase, although we don’t know just when that will be. At any rate, we do know that fans who might have missed out on the first part of the Final Fantasy VII remake won’t have to go back and play it. It turns out that the development team has made preparations to ensure that newcomers are caught up with the game narrative once they start Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Again, right now, the launch window for this next part of the Final Fantasy VII remake is set to launch at some point early next year, 2024. But while we don’t have a specific date yet, we know that it will be made available for the PlayStation 5 platform once Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches.
