Redditor /u/Nocturnal7 is officially a Fallout 4 hero. Using a custom texture they made on Dogmeat, they were able to insert their real dog into the game.
Here’s the irl Pirate, a kelpie/blue cattle dog mix.
And here’s Dogmeat after the transformation.
/u/Nocturnal7 was nice enough to post instructions for anyone who wants to use the texture as well. Before you attempt to do so, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with modding if it’s not something you’ve done before. Check out a brief explanation here.
1) First, you’ll need to go to the Fallout 4 folder in your PC’s documents. It should be located at \Documents\My Games\Fallout 4 unless for some reason you’ve specifically changed its location.
2) Open the Fallout4.ini file in the Fallout 4 folder.
3) find sResourceDataDirsFinal — it should say sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\
4) Place the extracted files into the data folder.
