First Look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in Upcoming Tomb Raider Film

February 6, 2017 by Jordan Biazzo

Vikander is really looking like Lara Croft!

Thanks to a Twitter fan-account, @vikanderonline, we now have a sense of direction of where the new Tomb Raider film is heading. The images, as seen down below, show viewers how Alicia Vikander is portrayed as the video game icon, Lara Croft.

Vikander seems to be wearing an outfit similar to the rebooted Tomb Raider game that released back in 2013.We learned last year that the decision to reboot the video game series was a direct result of the other rebooted Hollywood properties — Bond 007 and Batman.

Check out Vikander as Lara Croft down below:

MGM came aboard in 2013 and will make the film in partnership with Graham King’s GK Films. King acquired the rights to Tomb Raider from game publisher Square Enix in 2011 and will produce the movie.

The original Tomb Raider game was developed by UK studio Eidos, now part of Square Enix and the series is now developed by San Francisco studio Crystal Dynamics which was acquired by Eidos in 1998. Over 35 million games have been sold to date and Square Enix rebooted the series in 2013 with a younger Lara and a story exploring her origins.

We recently received some other casting news from the film as well. We now know that Dominic West (The Wire) will play as Lara’s father, Walton Goggins ( Sons of Anarchy) will play the main villain, and Daniel Wu (Warcraft) will play as a ship captain Lara works with; sounds a little familiar for those who played the 2013 rebooted title.

The untitled Tomb Raider film comes to theaters on March 16, 2018.
