Speedrunner Sets New Record For Resident Evil 7

January 30, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Resident Evil 7 completed in just ninety minutes.

Resident Evil 7 is certainly not a video game for the faint of heart. Capcom has doubled back to their routes with the latest installment of their Resident Evil franchise. Gamers won’t find the over-the-top action-packed blockbuster moments that were present in the previous two installments, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.

Instead, this time around, the game is catered towards their original fan base which found delight in a horrifying survival-horror gameplay. Now that the video game has been out for a short while, most gamers have already beaten the video game, in which according to the development team over at Capcom, the game would take players about ten hours to complete.

That’s not counting on the gamers who pride themselves as speedrunners, a gamer with the soul goal of beating a video game as fast as possible. This takes quite a bit of practice, memorization, and quick reflexes, but the results are astonishing.

We reported just earlier this week that one speedrunner had started the record off with the quickest time to beat Resident Evil 7 at just under two hours. This previous record has been topped by a new Twitch streamer by the name uhTrance.

The Twitch streamer managed to race through Resident Evil 7 in just one hour and thirty-four minutes. Similar to the past speedrunner, the video game was under the New Game Plus mode which can be unlocked after beating the video game normally.

We imagine it will only be a matter of time before that record is also topped once gamers become more familiar with the environments, glitches are discovered, and overall strategies on defeating enemies are improved. If you don’t mind spoilers, take a look at the speed run footage posted just above.
