Hideo Kojima is hard at work when it comes to the first video game release of Kojima Productions. The video game doesn’t have too many details on the narrative just yet, but Kojima doesn’t plan on just placing overly sexualized characters into Death Stranding for no reason.
In the past, Hideo Kojima is no stranger when placing sexualized characters into his video games. One of the most recently controversial characters to have released into the market under Hideo Kojima’s productions was Quiet from Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain. While the famed developers and creator gave a reason as to why Quiet dressed the way she does, there are still gamers who thought the character altogether was questionable.
Regardless, Hideo Kojima is taking on a different take when it comes to characters in the future of his video game development career. Kojima spoke with BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat, where the developer made mention that no matter how the character looks, they’ll have a deep background story.
“What I really want to avoid is, like you see in some games, characters with big breasts with no back story. If I make characters that at first glance might look like this then they’ll have a deep background story to give a specific reason why.”
It seems that we’ll have plenty of in-depth character narrative stories coming from Hideo Kojima. Death Stranding still doesn’t have a specific release date attached quite yet, though we do suspect we’ll know more about the upcoming video game title during this year’s E3 event. One thing is for sure, Death Stranding will be launching on the PlayStation 4 platform.
As for Hideo Kojima’s new development studio, the famed developer took IGN on a grand tour of the work environment. From the look of things, Hideo is opting for a closeness type vibe over at Kojima Productions where everyone can comfortably speak without having to deal with red tape or unreachable higher-ups in the company.
