EA has released a new gameplay clip for Visceral's (Dead Space) upcoming Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel. While it looks to be yet another miltiary shooter, The Devil's Cartel will look to spice things up by implementing the franchise's trademarked buddy system.
In this 11-minute clip, we get to hear Executive Producer Juilian Beak do a running commentary as the players perform coordinated flanks, use diversion tactics and even improvise destructive solutions with the game's Double Overkill mechanic.
While we don't really see anything new that other military shooters haven't done a countless times before, Visceral using DICE's Frostbite 2 engine might be the kick in the pants the game needs to be different. Players can pummel the enemies' cover with bullets to expose their hidey-hole. Of course, this also works the other way around; so be careful where you duck your head.
One thing I did notice though is the Overkill ability seems to recharge rather quick. Hopefully, that won't make the game a tad too easy.
Can Visceral pull off the same level of success with Army of Two as they have with the Dead Space franchise? We'll know for sure once Army of Two: The Devil's Cartel ships in March of 2013.
