Yacht Club Games has just announced that classic 2D adventure platformer Shovel Knight will be available for the Nintendo Switch, where it will be reborn as Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The newest iteration of the game will reportedly give players the options of purchasing subsequent campaigns Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment as separate games for Switch, current gen consoles, PC, Mac and Linux.
From here on, the original Shovel Knight game will be rebranded as Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope. After repeated requests from fans, a local two player co-op game mode is also coming as a free update to Shovel Knight’s campaign for all PC and console platforms. Additionally, Body Swap mode, which lets players switch around main character sprites and illustrations into exciting new hybrids is also expected to launch simultaneously with Shovel Knight: Spectre of Torment.
2017 will see the introduction of Shovel Knight: King Knight’s campaign, a brand new entry to the series, as well as a battle mode which will support up to four players in a riveting bout of duelling action. Yacht Club Games has advised players that the price of Shovel Knight will rise this Spring.
