The South Korean Consumer law protection is now forcing Blizzard to give refunds to consumers unhappy with Diablo III. Blizzard's offices were raided last month by the Korean Fair Trade Commission (FTC) for its refusal to provide a few unhappy Korean customers with refunds. The refunds were demanded by players unhappy with the "always online" requirement of the game. The FTC is required by law to determine whether Blizzard broke Korean law on electronic commerce.
According to reports, the refund policy will only cover players who haven't reached level 40, with requests filed between June 25 – July 3. After July 3, players under level 20 would have the right for a refund within a 14 day period of purchase. Blizzard is also offering its customers 30 day trials to StarCraft II as a compensation for the distress caused by server outages.
More servers were installed earlier this month to cope with server connectivity issues due to a misjudgement of user volume in Asia at launch.
