When Sega celebrated our favorite blue hedgehog’s 25th birthday this past summer, we were treated to a few announcements as to where Sonic was headed in future video games. One of these games, Sonic Mania, is a classic throwback of the 2D speedy adventures and levels of old classics. Not only has more extended gameplay for the game come out recently (as you’ll see in the video below), but apparently the title is getting a collector’s edition package.
As you can tell by the glamour shot we have, this whole deal is meant for the nostalgic folks. You get a Sonic Mania Sega cartridge with a golden ring attached to it, some sort of metallic card, and a big ol’ Sonic statue so you can fully appreciate this video game icon in a physical form. This is all shipped to you in a nice and well-put together special box, nice and neat. The gaming community has responded positively to the news of this game in the weeks following the debut trailer. Taking a step above remastering older titles, Sonic Mania updates the animations and gameplay mechanics where possible – adding an extra bit of polish to the experience. The inclusion of all-new levels as well? Even better.
Sonic Mania arrives Spring 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. To see more Sonic stuff, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
