Yesterday, Sonic threw a wild party in order to celebrate his 25th anniversary. This birthday bash was livestreamed via Twitch, where the gaming community joined SEGA for the festivities that ended up going for quite a while into the evening. Along the way, we got announcements for new additions to the Sonic series. The first was Sonic Mania, a 2D HD remake of the original Sonic game levels. But that wasn’t the only reveal we got.
SEGA uploaded a teaser trailer of Project Sonic 2017, we’re introduced to a new 3D Sonic game for the first time. For updates on this 3D game, check out Sonic’s website, Twitter, and Facebook.
We don’t see any gameplay in this trailer, whereas that was the main focus of the Sonic Mania reveal. Instead, we get a glimpse into the upcoming story of what mess Sonic has gotten into this time. There’s giant robots attacking a now clearly ruined city. Sonic comes on the scene upset about the destruction of this place, and rushes in to take them out. But these foes are formidable, aggressively throwing debris at the speedy Hedgehog. He almost collides with a projectile, only to be saved by Classic Sonic from Sonic Generations. Together they appear to rush towards these new adversaries. That’s where the trailer video ends.
Project Sonic 2017 is expected to come out Holiday 2017 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo NX, and PC.
