Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration takes everything that came out with the latest Lara Croft adventure and wraps it up into a nice package for your PS4, with a few new bells and whistles.
The centerpiece is the new Blood Ties DLC, which take Lara on a journey through Croft Manor to prove that Lara is the rightful heir of her father’s secrets and estate. There’s a challenge mode where the manor is haunted with zombies, too. On PS4, you’ll be able to use Playstation VR to explore the Croft mansion in first person.
“This year we celebrate 20 years of the iconic Lara Croft,” said co-Head of Crystal Dynamics Ron Rosenberg. “This provided the perfect opportunity for us to deliver a new Tomb Raider experience. With the addition of PlayStation VR support, you can play the world through Lara’s eyes for the first time in franchise history.”
The game’s Endurance mode will receieve an online co-op addition. You and a friend can survive together in the wilderness, carefully trying to manage all of your resources to outlast mother nature. Along that same theme – for those of you who like brutality, there’s an Extreme Survivor difficulty setting. It’s all the fun of the Survivor difficulty, but with the added bonus that checkpoints are removed from the game. The only way you’ll be able to save progress is via campfires.
To throwback to Lara Croft’s legacy, the game will include outfits that echo back to the Tomb Raider’s earlier days. A special card pack will let players replay the game using five classic Lara models, including the original 1996 edition herself.
You like DLC? Well this game is going to have all of the previously released goods included here. From Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch, to Cold Darkness Awakened – 7 weapons, 12 outfits, 35 Expedition Cards, among other things.
While the Playstation 4 is the main place for this new content, everything introduced in Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration will also be made available on Xbox One and PC (minus the VR support). It’s set to arrive on October 11th. For all the latest Tomb Raider news, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
