“The Walking Dead” Console Versions Axed in Australia

April 26, 2012 by Jacob Saylor

Strict rules set gaming back in the “land down under” once again.

Telltale Games has informed the public that recently-released zombie-slayer game "The Walking Dead" will not be finding its way to Australian consoles, following a rating of "18+" – a death sentence for most games.

“Sorry, but due to the OFLC ratings laws in Australia and New Zealand, and the fact that this is a mature game, we do not currently have plans to release the game there on consoles,”read a post written by Mike on the game’s forums.

This is a huge hit for gaming in Australia, as there have been a number of discrepancies in the industry over the past few years there, especially in the world of MMORPGs.

Now, for our readers hailing from Australia and New Zealand: you can still buy the game on Steam right now. Whether or not Telltale plans to take their game off of Steam remains to be seen, but we would advise you to hurry up and make your purchase.
