Rockstar is taking the next step forward with Grand Theft Auto Online and FiveM.

As found by videotechuk, a FiveM app listing has appeared on SteamDB. SteamDB mines data from Steam to find information under the radar, so this hints that a real FiveM app is coming to Steam.
The SteamDB entry shows that it went live and was tested by 10 players just yesterday. It’s first record update is dated to December 9, 2025, 23:24:41 UTC.
What Does This Mean For GTA RP?
This appears to be proof that Rockstar has made good on their promise to integrate GTA RP officially to Grand Theft Auto Online.
There had been several things that made fans doubt their intention or sincerity about this. For one, Rockstar bought FiveM while they were working on their own Rockstar Online Modding Engine (ROME).
Secondly, there were a lot of allegations about FiveM’s developer teams. Rockstar never officially addressed these claims, but this action does make them mostly irrelevant.
FiveM May Have Been Building Up To This
In hindsight, maybe we should have expected something like this was coming. Rockstar was oddly evasive about their work with FiveM, not really elaborating or clearing up any misunderstandings.
But last month, FiveM did launch their own project Alchemist, and incorporate fan project Sollumz, for Grand Theft Auto Online. Both programs will port assets from Grand Theft Auto V to work with Grand Theft V Enhanced Edition.
This is especially useful for GTA RP, as servers can be transferred quickly and completely to Grand Theft V Enhanced Edition.
Is This Incorporated With A Safehouse In The Hills?
It just so happens that today’s incoming update, A Safehouse In The Hills, will add a mission creator. While GTA RP is a different animal, it is possible that Rockstar and CFX.RE have been working together on this.
So maybe players can build new GTA RP servers using the mission creator from scratch. That, of course, remains to be seen.
We do imagine it will be more convenient for creators to make their first missions using NPCs. But if this was what Rockstar and CFX.RE thought of, we may see some interesting things in the future.
Could FiveM Also Come To Consoles?
Finally, this raises questions if FiveM can be deployed as an app that works on PlayStation and Xbox’s consoles. Could CFX.RE have been working on this for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S? Or are they working on it now for the next generation of consoles?
Well, whether Rockstar takes the effort may depend on how successful this will be. So let’s hope for the best for FiveM at this time.
