It wasn’t too long ago that we saw some lackluster adaptations from video game IPs. Those were some grim days for fans of the source materials. However, that changed not too long ago. I would go on to say that we’re seeing a boom right now with video game adaptations coming to the big screen and television. One of those adaptations that quickly gained attention from fans worldwide was Fallout.
Bethesda’s Fallout franchise was adapted into a series on Amazon Prime Video. While it didn’t directly adapt a specific game, the series retains everything that makes Fallout, well, Fallout. Now we’re getting ready for season 2 of the Amazon Prime Video series to hit, but it looks like we might not be too far off from a season 3 coming our way.
Fallout Season 3 Could Be Filming In The Summer Of 2026
Fallout fans don’t have to wait very long before they get into the next season of the show. We know that we’ll get to explore the wasteland with Lucy again on December 17, 2025. When that date rolls around, we’ll be heading to New Vegas, a setting based on Fallout New Vegas. However, when the show wraps up, and that final episode is watched, don’t expect season 3 to take too long.
Thanks to Insider Gaming, we learned that IGN spoke with series creator Jonathan Nolan about season 3. Don’t expect any tidbits of what’s to come. After all, we have to sit through season 2 first. But what Nolan said was that he wants to get back on television quickly. There’s an unfortunate trend in Nolan’s eyes: television shows from season to season can take a long time to pop back up. That’s not what he wants to follow.
If possible, we hope to see filming pick back up for the series in the summer of 2026. Now, whether that happens or not remains to be seen. We’ll have to wait for production to pick up on filming. But if there is a push to see the show back up and filming in the summer of 2026, the wait for the next season could be relatively short.
Meanwhile, since the show was a massive hit, you would have assumed there would be some new games to support it. That hasn’t really been the case, and even Todd Howard admitted that he wasn’t expecting the show to be as big as it was. This could be the reason we didn’t see anything immediately ready for release after the debut season or alongside the upcoming season.
