Can GTA 6 Truly Meet Expectations After All These Delays?

November 11, 2025 by Todd Black

Approval and disapproval is a thin tight rope to walk.

So, GTA 6 is delayed, and we’ve known about it for almost a week now. With each new day that arrives since the release, we are having to live with accepting this fact, and once again, get ever closer to the game’s release in November 2026. However, there’s a question that’s beginning to arrive in certain circles. Specifically, the question of whether the game can actually “live up to the hype,” given all the delays that it’s gone through. Is there anything that Rockstar Games can put out that will meet fan expectations and deliver the excitement and thrill that’s been loosely promised for a decade or so?

Well…yes, if we’re going to look at this objectively, there’s absolutely a chance that Rockstar Games can pull this off, and for a few basic reasons. First and foremost, Rockstar Games has one of the best “hit records” in the gaming space. Sure, its titles may take a LONG time to come out at points, but it’s almost always because the team wants to deliver the best game possible and ensure that fans get their money’s worth.

Plus, there have been cases where games had a long wait time and made it well past the bar that fans had placed for them. A great recent example is the two open-world titles that Nintendo put in the land of Hyrule recently. Both games were heavily delayed to ensure quality, with one being pushed back so far that it was a dual-release on the Wii U and the original Nintendo Switch. The game had impressed many just by its trailers and gameplay videos, but once it launched, it took everyone’s “Breath” away, and they wanted to explore the “Wild” like never before. The follow-up in 2023 was also heavily delayed, and while many cried “Tears” that it didn’t get as many “Game of the Year” awards like its predecessor, everyone still enjoyed it, and they loved all the new things they could do in the “Kingdom.”

Arguably, the biggest “advantage” that GTA 6 has over those games, and other heavily delayed titles, is the fact that we still know precious little about the game itself. We know loosely the protagonists and have seen art of the various co-stars for the game, but Rockstar has been smart in only letting loose the smallest bits of information in its trailers. Thus, there are plenty of surprises still to be had, and that could help save the game in the end.
