Liquid Swords has nipped the bud on a rumor that, admittedly, came out of nowhere.

Liquid Swords? Sounds Familiar…
Liquid Swords was founded in 2020 by Christofer Sundberg. Sundberg was previously known as co-founder of Avalanche Studios, the creators of the Just Cause open world action games.
Liquid Swords shared this statement upon their founding:
The ultimate goal of Liquid Swords is to bring back game development to where it should be: intensely creative and fun while at the same time bringing game development forward with a strong focus on building innovative action experiences rather than business plans and spreadsheets.
That said, Liquid Swords is a business, not a playground for aimless ideas. Our swords are sharpened, our mission is set and we could not be more excited about what the future holds.
Sadly, Sundberg’s former studio Avalanche Studios recently had layoffs after Microsoft cancelled their upcoming heist game Contraband. But Liquid Swords had some good news when they shared this trailer for their first project.
Liquid Swords Shuts Down A Rumor Almost Immediately
Tez2 captioned this trailer on Twitter with this claim:
Liquid Swords providing us with the GTAIV remaster
When prodded further, Tez2 said this:
Nope, I didn’t say anything about when it’s coming. Just that it’s in development.
Surprisingly, Liquid Swords themselves responded to Tez2 with this:
If we ever made a remaster that would be it. Imagine Mad Max Payne…
But just to make it clear, Sundberg also denied they were making a Grand Theft Auto style game at all. Twitter user NikoBellic__1 asked him this question:
Please be grounded like GTA/Mafia/RDR and not another fantasy/futuristic game like almost everything nowadays
Sundberg made this reply:
No. All respect to developers of fantasy/sci-fi games, but it’s just not for us. This is more like … Mad Max …. Payne.
What Is Liquid Swords Making Then?
It isn’t clear to us where Tez2 got his information. But it looks like Liquid Swords and their CEO Sundberg himself have denied his claim.
We have been sitting on rumors that Rockstar prepared remasters for Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as Grand Theft Auto IV for some time now. But in spite of that, Take-Two and Rockstar have yet to announce these games to confirm these rumors.
It is possible that these remasters are secretly in development. Liquid Swords may even have tried to get clever with their responses to ‘technically’ not reveal anything they can’t. But this still mostly looks like the rumor was denied.
