Bungie Releases New Destiny Patch That Fixes Unlimited Ammo Glitch

May 25, 2016 by Dennis Patrick

Iron Banner trials now underway.

Destiny Bungie

You may have recalled Destiny missing out its Trials of Osiris weekend event. This was due to players discovering a glitch that would give them unlimited amounts of ammo for heavy weapons. The weekend and future events had been delayed in order for Bungie to patch the bug. Today that patch has released bringing Destiny to version 2.2.3.0.

Bungie alerted fans last week through a blog post stating the following:

“When we learned that some Guardians had discovered a way to earn unlimited rockets, we knew it was time for a bug hunt. Rather than punish players for playing the game in a way we didn’t predict, we’ve been waging an investigation into our code. These things happen, so please don’t panic. We’re on the case – and we’ve slayed more dreaded bugs than these.”

Gamers who used the exploit to their advantage easily found themselves with unlimited heavy ammo such as rockets. Luckily, Bungie wasn’t going to punish any of these players for stumbling upon and using the exploit. Instead, they decided to postpone any of the scheduled events until they were able to successfully patch the bug.

Today that patch released which fixed not only the unlimited heavy ammo glitch but also another glitch that allowed gamers to use unlimited super abilities. For now, the latest Iron Banner is underway and will run until May 31, 2016. Gamers can now attempt to claim the rewards which include pieces of armor for each class.
