007 First Light Will Feature A Special State of Play Stream This Week

September 1, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Viewers who tune in will get to watch gameplay from the first mission.

We knew for a good while now that IO Interactive was working on the 007 franchise. It’s a big IP, and who better to handle a new video game adaptation than the folks behind Hitman? Since it was first revealed to the world, developers have been slowly chipping away and keeping things tight-lipped. We haven’t seen much until earlier this June when IO Interactive pulled back the veil for 007 First Light.

During June, we received our first glimpse of the game and a brief premise. There was still quite a bit we didn’t know. One aspect that players were keen on seeing is some gameplay. The wait is coming to an end regarding the showcasing of actual gameplay footage for fans to sit in on. If you’re interested in this game, mark your calendars, as this week, we’re getting a deep dive.

007 First Light State of Play Deep Dive

While not a full State of Play, a new stream is set to take place this week. It’s a special showcase that is dedicated to the upcoming 007 First Light game. More specifically, IO Interactive was ready to share a look at the gameplay aspect of this upcoming title.

As revealed on the official PlayStation Blog, on September 3, 2025, at 11 AM PT, we’ll get a new stream on both the PlayStation Twitch and YouTube channels. This will be centered around the upcoming game and give you over thirty minutes of gameplay footage. More specifically, we’re going to examine the first mission of James Bond as an M16 recruit.

While there are some similarities between IO Interactive’s Hitman franchise and 007 First Light, this gameplay demonstration will highlight how the two will be distinct. For instance, we already know that this new gameplay footage will show not only some stealth elements, like those in Hitman, but also the aspects that make James Bond —well, James Bond. Everything from action-packed shootouts to high-speed car chases will be featured.

Again, we don’t have a specific release date for this title. We know it’s coming this upcoming year. Meanwhile, we know it will release not only on the PlayStation 5, but also on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. Fortunately, we already know that after release, we’ll receive some free content drops, much like the Hitman games.
