The rumors about a September Nintendo Switch 2 Direct seem to be getting stronger and more dangerous.

Yesterday, Video Games Chronicle corroborated the rumor of a September Direct. Their sources confirmed that the event was happening in the middle of the month.
The original source of the rumor added a bit more fuel to the fire.
It’s The Big One
YouTuber SwitchForce was very confident that the Direct is scheduled in September 12. Today, he said this in a new video:
Now, I can tell you as the dude who’s making those tweets that yeah, I know when this direct is, and I’m telling you it is the big one.
You’re right. It is the general direct you’ve been waiting for, and it should be a very exciting show. We’ll touch on it more as we get closer.
Not This Bit Again
Now, we aren’t going to dismiss SwitchForce’s claims outright. Many gamers have become rightly skeptical with all the rumors and speculation around the Switch 2 that did not pan out.
Our position on this is, this rumor will be the testing ground if SwitchForce becomes a credible source for rumors moving forward.
But we can’t pretend that this didn’t just happen. In fact, we played our own part in a little story involving one Wood Hawker, better known on YouTube as BeatEmUps.
Time To BeatEmUps
Near the end of June, we reported on Hawker’s rumor that Nintendo’s big Direct was on the way.
He namedropped popular big names, including Metaphor ReFantazio, Death Stranding, a Switch 2 edition of The Witcher 3, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokémon Colosseum on GameCube Nintendo Classics, and a tease of the next Animal Crossing.
Last month, he revealed this rumor was entirely fake. Hawker claimed that he spread it around to study how Nintendo rumors spread.
It’s A Question Of Trust
I can assure you that Hawker has received sufficient grief from all of this. Please do not harass or attack this man online.
With that taken into account, it’s understandable if fans will now also be skeptical about SwitchForce’s rumor. For many people, he will be very similar to Hawker. He’s a Nintendo YouTuber they never heard of, but they see a lot of people like and trust him. That social proof could be enough to convince to people to put some trust in him and his rumor.
We’ll be here to confirm or deny when that Switch 2 Direct does or does not happen. We do know for sure that Nintendo has quite a few games on its docket that it needs to promote this year, since they will also be releasing this year. So we know at least one more Direct is an inevitability.
And now we wait to see whose dreams come true and get crushed from the relentless grind of the Nintendo Switch 2 rumor mill.
