Nintendo Confirms Metroid Prime 4: Beyond For 2025 Again

Nintendo reassured fans that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is still coming this year.

Fan Expo attendees will be able to play upcoming games like Metroid Prime™ 4: Beyond (available later in 2025).

Why Is This Even A Question?

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will not avoid scrutiny until it’s actually released. That’s because of the game’s messy history.

Nintendo originally announced Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in 2017. That’s a decade after Metroid Prime 3: Corruption released for the Wii. So there was already pent up demand for it going back to 2007. But things went awry when Nintendo announced they were starting over in 2019.

Kensuke Tanabe wasn’t happy with Bandai Namco’s progress on the game. As the man in charge of the franchise, Tanabe tapped Retro Studios to start over.

This was what fans actually wanted to see, even if it meant the end of Retro’s 2.5D Donkey Kong Country platformers. However, it also meant they would wait even longer for the game. And that’s compounded fans’ frustrations.

What Were The Most Recent Rumors?

Reece Reilly recently stated that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is in the ‘final phase’ of development. He’s a huge source because of his contacts at Retro Studios. But he has clarified that he is openly speculating on when the game will release.

Korea’s game rating agency recently published its rating for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. Game ratings do not guarantee that a game is close to release. But they can only rate a game that’s complete.

What About The Timetable?

We are now at August 2025, with over half of the year over. That doesn’t mean there are no more good times to publish Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. But Nintendo’s options have definitely gotten shorter.

Ideally, if Nintendo wants Metroid Prime 4: Beyond or their other games in stores in time for the holidays, they should be publishing them before that. And the best holiday for this is not Christmastime, but the Thanksgiving weekend including Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Nintendo also has to plan that release alongside Pokémon Legends Z-A, Splatoon Raiders, and Kirby Air Riders. Regardless of when they release them, Switch 2 gamers have a stacked year one for sure.
