Doom: The Dark Ages is already quite the anticipated game. This third installment to the series’ big reboot from 2016 will be here next month. However, a new trailer just dropped to help get players a little more hyped up. Check out the latest footage with the sneak peek video embedded below.
If you haven’t been keeping tabs on this game, we can help you. This particular installment is set up to be a prequel. Players will go far back into the past as the game is set in medieval times. So, we’re getting a prequel to the Doom 2016 release. That said, it’s not a storyline that will end right before the events of the Doom 2016 campaign.
Players will again step into the role of the series protagonist, the iconic Doom Slayer. In this game, players will be the last to stand against a demonic invasion that will seek to rundown a kingdom. Likewise, it looks like we’ll be equipped with a few different pieces of weapon, such as a mace and flail.
The developers gave a few reasons for why they opted to set this game in medieval times. For instance, one reason was that we could expect a far more brutal and sinister experience. That’s simply because of the time period the game will be set within and the weapons used. Furthermore, the developers took inspiration from an iconic Batman comic series. Their goal was to give players a storyline that focuses on the origins of Doom Slayer.
While we already know that this game does not have a multiplayer option, there’s a chance we’ll see an installment with this game mode. That’s because the developers don’t seem keen on leaving this time period right away. Fortunately, we don’t have too long to wait to get our hands on this game. Players can pick up Doom: The Dark Ages on May 15, 2025, for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.
