The Nintendo Store In San Francisco Details Its Upcoming May Opening

March 13, 2025 by Todd Black

Ready for a big opening?

Where do you get your “gaming gear?” If you have apparel or items of any kind that represent some of your favorite video game characters or franchises, where do you get them? For many, there are websites online that allow you to get the items you want, including places like Amazon, Good Smile, and other respected entities. Rarely, though, are there true “one-stop shops” where you can go in and be likely to find all that you want. The Nintendo Store is one place where you can get anything/everything you want that’s Nintendo-related. However, there is one problem. Currently, the only store of that nature is in New York City.

Obviously, if you’re not there, you’re out of luck. However, there is hope on the horizon, for on May 15th, a second store is set to open in San Francisco! That way, the stores will be “coast-to-coast.” As noted on the store’s official website, the place will be located at “331 Powell St (on the corner of Powell and Geary) in Union Square.”

On May 15th, Nintendo will open the doors to Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO, its second official store in the United States.

Details on reservation requirements—and an early look at exclusive products—will be shared as we approach the grand opening.

Other details are a bit scarce, but the site promised that there would be “exclusive items” at the Nintendo Store in San Francisco, and that would be something for fans to look forward to. Now, if you want to be there for the grand opening of the event, you’ll want to keep your eyes on the website, as there will be reservations that you can get to ensure you’re there on day one.

Why is this store so important? First, as noted, it’ll be the second store of its kind in the entire United States, which is a cool thing and, hopefully, a sign of things to come. After all, there are plenty of other cities that would likely welcome a store from Nintendo and ensure that it’s a successful place. Chicago is one such location.

Another reason the store is important is brand exposure. Nintendo is already known the world over, but it’s always looking to do even more with its brand to ensure that its fanbase is constantly growing. Having visible stores in places like New York City, San Francisco, and more is very important to help “get eyes on the product.”

Speaking of products, the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming out later this year, and that means that having another store can help get people excited about the upcoming system. Stay tuned for more about the upcoming store!
