Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition is a game that’s been waited on for a long time. Sure, we only knew about it coming to Switch for a short amount of time, but the fact that we’re finally getting the game on Nintendo’s newest system has basically been a dream since 2017. After all, that’s when Monolith Soft’s beloved RPG franchise really took off, and with the definitive edition of the series’ first game and the incredible third entry that came out in 2022, fans wanted the Wii U game to “complete the set.” It’s almost here, and as a response to that, Nintendo has dropped the game’s overview trailer.
The game puts you on a mysterious planet known as Mira. Hostile alien forces attacked Earth, and in a desperate bid to survive, humanity boarded arcs that were scattered across the stars. Many didn’t make it, but your ship, the White Whale, did, and your stasis pod is soon found by Elma, a being that is helping the colony city of New Los Angeles get acquainted with their new homeworld. Things will not be easy as Mira, as not only is this a massive place, but each biome has numerous areas to explore and creatures to fight within.
Much like the other three games in the series, Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition has you using the “Arts” systems to try to kill enemies. You’ll need to be smart about when and how you use your art, as you’ll want to work perfectly with your teammates to do the most damage. Not just that, though- you can team up with 31 other players in a special online co-op to take on quests like defeating monsters and gathering supplies!
If you’re looking for even more to do, you’ll want to explore New Los Angeles and talk to the various people within. Many will offer missions for you to do, and doing them will help build up the city and your relationships with them. Yet, the greatest threat on this planet is the beings who want to wipe humanity out entirely. You’ll need to rise up with your weapons and mechanized Skell to give humanity a chance at rebuilding.
Plus, at the very end of the trailer, we see a glimpse of the new story content that features our heroes being taken somewhere new and having to fight once more to get back to their new home.
You can watch the full trailer below and get the game on Nintendo Switch on March 20th.
