There was quite a bit of jarring news earlier this week when it was claimed NetEase was making some drastic changes. It started when NetEase dropped the Seattle-based team that helped bring out the hit game Marvel Rivals. Since then, there have been claims that more layoffs would be happening and even studio closures. Of course, those are just claims at the moment. One studio that doesn’t seem at all worried about the rumors is Quantic Dream.
While NetEase might be reviewing and reevaluating its various projects, it is leaving fans concerned. We don’t know what the future might hold for some of these incredible studios and anticipated game projects. Today, thanks to a LinkedIn post from Guillaume de Fondaumiere, CEO and head of publishing at Quantic Dream, we’re learning that layoffs and studio closures have not affected their teams.
After being asked about the current situation by fans and friends, they wish to reassure everyone that their studios in Paris and Montreal remain unaffected. Instead, they are still developing their projects at full pace, with several open positions within each studio location.
Their last big release hit the marketplace in 2018 with Detroit: Become Human. Now, their next game, which we know is in development, is Star Wars Eclipse. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen much of that game, so we’re still very much on the outs regarding what their take might entail for this iconic franchise.
But, at the very least, we know that the game is still being worked on, and the studio has not found itself being downsized. Meanwhile, that wasn’t the only studio that chimed in this week to alert fans they are not in any danger over NetEase. If you recall, yesterday’s news came from Rebel Wolves to alert fans that they are still pressing on without any concerns about NetEase affecting progress over their debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker.
