A New Castlevania AAA Game Might Be In The Works

February 6, 2025 by Andrew McKay

Where in the Castlevania timeline might this story pick up?

Castlevania has seen a resurgence in recent years. The Netflix show has garnered great interest and reignited dormant parts of the community. Dead Cells and Vampire Survivors both featured Castlevania-themed DLC. That at least allowed fans to scratch the Castlevania itch, but Konami has neglected its IP for years. That might be changing now.

As reported by the folks over at Geekinout. Rumours are circulating that Konami might finally be working on another Castlevania game. It’s still early days at this point but it would make sense given the renewed interest in the series and the success of Netflix’s second season of Castlevania: Nocturne.

Some games that will be revealed/announced this year:

Tomb Raider (new AAA main title)
Fire Emblem Remake
Nier Automata sequel
Castlevania (AAA)
EA FC 26 (😉)

Daniel Camilo is a gaming journalist. He shared on Twitter that he had received information from multiple reliable sources that a AAA game is in the works. This information was marked as fairly confident but no further references were made regarding his sources.

Currently, the only real modern Castlevania experience fans of the franchise can have is the Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC. The Return to Castlevania DLC features 20 iconic characters, 51 songs and 14 new weapons, original foes from the series, a new storyline and three boss fights.

As always with leaks and rumours, take this all with a pinch of salt. There are no official confirmations as yet. For a guaranteed Castlevania fix, the aforementioned Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC is your best bet.
