Civilization VII Has Officially Gone Gold

January 20, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready for the next chapter of Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise.

Civilization is an iconic strategy video game series, and if you’ve been following this franchise, you’ll be delighted to learn that Civilization VII has gone gold. The developers working on this installment took to the official Civilization X account, where they unveiled that the team had reached gold. Now, nothing is stopping the studio from releasing Civilization VII on time.

I’m sure I don’t have to explain the game to you, but if this is your first time trying this series out, then we can give you a refresher. Players step into the role of a leader who will help craft an empire. However, it’s up to you to ensure your civilization thrives over the years as you look to expand and evolve the empire.

As you lead your empire, you must overcome challenges to ensure that your people can thrive and be capable if war breaks out. Fortunately, we know we don’t have long before we can dive into this game since the developers have confirmed they reached the gold status in development.

For those unaware, going gold is a milestone every developer works to reach with their projects. Overall, going gold means the developers have reached the point where the game is ready for the public. This is often a stage where manufacturing takes over, and units begin to ship out to retailers worldwide. Meanwhile, developers typically continue to work on the game to deliver patch updates after the game drops. But, essentially, the game is ready for players, and it won’t be subjected to a sudden delay.

Players can expect Civilization VII to be released on February 11, 2025. You’ll find the game available on the PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S platforms when it is released. Likewise, you will find that this installment is Steam Deck verified. In the meantime, you can view a trailer for the upcoming title below.
