New Leak Confirms 2025 Pokemon Presents

January 8, 2025 by Todd Black

Oops!

One of the things that people love to take solace in is that certain traditions don’t get broken. Holidays are a great example of that. They are days that special celebrations occur, and people then plan their days, and sometimes even weeks, around them because they know exactly when they are and that they won’t change without something truly big happening. While not as common, there are certain “holidays” in the gaming space, and one of them is Pokemon Day. It’s the anniversary of the RPG franchise, and it’s when a Pokemon Presents event happens, which showcases what’s coming up for the franchise.

The event has been taking place without fail since February 27th, 2021, with key announcements across both console and mobile titles each year. With certain big-name titles coming out this year and the next main generation likely coming out soon enough, it made sense that we would get a Pokemon Presents next month; it was just a matter of waiting for the confirmation itself. Thankfully, through an accidental leak via Niantic, we’ve now got it. Not just that, they’ve confirmed that, at the presents, they’ll be dropping the reveal of Gen V in their popular mobile title:

There’s plenty to read into with this post. First, again, Pokemon Day will have an event for fans to look forward to, which is good, but the arrival of Unova has many fans wondering if there could be other “Unova-themed” announcements coming by The Pokemon Company.

How so? Well, for a long time now, The Pokemon Company has been doing its best to rebirth past generations onto modern platforms. Gen IV, Sinnoh, was given a “brilliant and shining” new coat of paint a few years back on the Nintendo Switch, and there have been plenty of teases that the Unova region would be getting that same treatment soon enough. The upcoming Pokemon Presents would be the perfect place to do it, especially if that announcement would be for the Nintendo Switch 2. After all, that is the next big console that many hope The Big N will reveal any day now.

Given the progression of things, it would make sense for the company to release it on the next system, as it would help drive up sales and be a key first-year title. Then, there’s Pokemon Legends Z-A, which many predict will be the focus of the upcoming presents video.

It’ll be a wait, but February will be here before you know it.
