One of the bigger issues with gaming franchises is that after a while, there comes a “desire” within the dev team to try and “shake things up.” They try to change the formula “just enough” to keep it in line with the franchise’s past entries while also trying to be fresh and new. If done properly, it can be a “breath of fresh air” that helps elevate the series to new heights, and we’re sure you can all think of titles that fit that mold. However, if handled improperly, you get Star Fox Adventures, a game that wasn’t bad but didn’t feel like a true adventure with Fox McCloud.
The long and short history of the game’s development is that the team behind it was working on an entirely original title called “Dinosaur Planet.” Then, according to gaming legend, the series creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, came to the dev team’s lair one day and watched the main character in action before saying, “That looks like Fox!”
It was after that moment that Miyamoto apparently went and merged this project with the team working on Fox’s next title, and thus Star Fox Adventures was born and eventually brought to the Nintendo GameCube. Now, despite what some fans will tell you, the game isn’t bad. In fact, it got great reviews from critics and sold rather well for that era, including in Japan. The problem is that the game didn’t feel like a true Team Star Fox adventure, especially since you only interacted with a few of the Star Fox crew throughout. Thus, it might seem odd that a certain leaker is stating that the game is in line for a remake!
It’s true. According to Samus Hunter, Nintendo is apparently remaking and improving the game. However, on Reddit, those who found the rumor are doing their best to say how unlikely it is due to Samus Hunter’s unreliability. The person is apparently a “Tier 6 Unreliable Source.” So, yeah, that’s not exactly comforting.
Jokes aside, there’s no doubt that people want a new game with Fox, Falco, and Peppy. Oh, and Slippy Toad, if you have no choice. Fans have been asking for a new game to “right the ship” after the disaster that was the Wii U game. If Nintendo were to remake this GameCube title, it would likely throw fans into a bit of a state of shock, not to mention make them question the true nature of the franchise’s future.
