The latest in Nintendo Switch 2 leaks are upon us. This time they’re regarding the dock. A recent leak suggests that the Switch dock will output 4K but with a few caveats. A Redditor who claims to have had access to a final production Switch 2 and its dock, has been answering questions regarding the new console over on Reddit.
As initially covered by Tech4Gamers, Redditor NextHandheld claims to have gotten their hands on the next Nintendo Switch. This claim has been corroborated by a Reddit mod who says that they have received suitable evidence.
Included in the information shared are details regarding the joycon, current known colourways, screen and bezel size and the Nintendo Switch 2 dock. Much of this information has been shared previously through other sources. The Joycon reportedly connect magnetically, they have Hall-effect joysticks and there’s an extra “C” button on one side. The screen is supposedly a similar size to the Steam Deck and isn’t bezel-less.
The Nintendo Switch 2 dock will reportedly be oddly shaped. It will curve down at the back, only partially cover the screen and reportedly be locked at 30 frames per second in 4K. While this is exciting news, it’s what the public has wanted for a long time. It’s unlikely to be a true 4K as that would make a handheld console very power-hungry. Therefore the new Nintendo Switch 2 will likely make use of upscaling technology like DLSS to upscale a lower resolution to 4K
