Indiana Jones and The Great Circle Isn’t Great On The Steam Deck

December 9, 2024 by Andrew McKay

It’s best to wait a while or make use of a streaming service if you want to play it on the Steam Deck right now.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle was released today. After being in early access for a few days. The game has generally seen rave reviews as players step into the shoes of the beloved Indy. However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing. Players have reported running into several issues and Bethesda has already released its first update. This update attempts to make the game more stable and address game-breaking issues. But Steam Deck players have been left out of that update.

As reported by The Gamer, Steam Deck Players are experiencing several issues when running the game natively. Given the hardware limitations of the Steam Deck, it’s likely that players had already moderated their expectations regarding graphical settings and framerate. However, it’s generally considered not worth playing natively.

It’s reported that the game runs poorly, has missing assets, UI issues, blurred textures and very poor framerates regardless of settings. Some of these issues align with what some PC gamers experienced, such as missing characters and blurred textures. However, the aforementioned update has addressed many of those issues for PC users.

Updates for AMD users have been announced in the patch notes of Update 1. Maybe the Steam Deck issues will be addressed as part of the work for AMD-based improvements. The folks over at The Gamer suggested playing Indiana Jones and The Great Circle with cloud gaming services like Geforce Now. However, that solution is dependent on your internet connection so keep that in mind.

It’s frustrating that the experience is so poor for Steam Deck users, hopefully, the various teams involved will update players soon and provide an ETA on potential fixes.
