Grand Theft Auto VI will be the biggest release for the video game industry this coming year. Fans cannot wait to get their hands on this title, and that’s with only one official trailer out right now. It’s been a long wait for Rockstar Games to showcase this title with new marketing materials, and there’s a theory as to why that is. One former Rockstar developer is suggesting Rockstar’s holding off on the second trailer right now is actually a good move.
Thanks to IGN, we’re finding out that a former Rockstar developer, Mike York, posted about why GTA 6 doesn’t have a new trailer. Mike York worked at Rockstar Games for several years as an animator, where he helped make Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2. However, he has since left the studio and is just a part of the fanbase waiting for the new game to ship.
However, in their recent video release, Mike noted that holding back a trailer’s release can be considered a marketing tactic. There is still an overwhelming number of posts online all about the game, with fans looking at every little detail from the one and only trailer available. Because of that, the lack of knowledge only generates fans to market the games themselves. You’re getting wild theories and discussions about the game, so it’s still very much being talked about and shared online without Rockstar having to send out any new marketing materials.
Of course, fans are still hopeful that we will get another trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI this month. We’ll just have to wait and see when Rockstar announces the next trailer release or if they do a surprise drop. At any rate, we can just sit here and continue watching the only trailer available while we wait.
